High RPM's on cold start...
I just bought a used 2005 FX4, 47,000 miles on it. It's fairly cold here right now (average 15 degrees) so I'm assuming it has something to do with it. When I start the truck cold the revs sit around 1400 - 1500 and slowly drop, if put into drive it lurches forward. If it had been started ~2 or less hours previous it starts fine and sits around 800 revs and doesn't jump at all when put into drive. I'm just wondering if there's any serious problems related to this, it's my first truck so I don't know how normal it may be.
Mine does this too. The truck runs flawless. Just let it warm up more. The TFT is prolly quite low at that point. I try to let it hit 900 at least. If I have time, I let it idle down to where I have the idle set at 750
Alright, thank you for the replies. I wasn't too concerned since it is colder than the north pole here right now (literally), just wanted to make sure it was a normal thing. I'm lovin this truck by the way, absolutely amazing. I can't figure out why the previous owner sold it back to the dealer, 2005 FX4 in damn good condition (so far).
