Help me with bumper and fogs.

Hey,
I have an 05 f150 xlt 4x4 with chrome bumber and NO fogs. I want the bumper with round fogs. I have searched the forms and found some information. I saw there was reference to a write up but couldnt find the write up. Are the round fogs only in the 06-08? If so do i need to change brackets and everything to get the round fogs to work? Thanks.

From what I have read, the brackets (frame horns, not sure if these need altering) and bumper correspond for the 04-05 MY (rectangle) and the 06-08 MY (round).

Im gathering the parts for the switch and will be doing it in the spring.

if you search, "bumper swap" theres a thread with some exact part #'s.

from my understanding you need 4 brackets , fogs/housing's/ bumper

i just bought this bumper on ebay, they also have chrome ones. hopefully i'll get sometime next week and i can report back on the quality. They said it was metal and identical to OEM, but we shall see. also found a steal on some brackets, now i just need to get the fogs/housings and get the bumper powder coated and we'll be in business.

Take it from one who used to own a 2005 with the rectangular fogs and now owns a 2010 with the round fogs - the round lights are totally useless! Not only does the pattern suck, but one cannnot add more powerful bulbs without melting lenses.

If you want the fog lights for function over form, get the 2004-2005 bumper with those fogs. The pattern is great and adding more powerful bulbs just makes them even better - with no fear of melting lenses.

Ok thanks for the replys. I really like the looks of the Round instead of the square. I am just not sure what to do, the squares are cheaper and a direct replacement with no problems it sounds like. But I wander if you were to put the HIDS in the fogs if it would produce less heat with more light?

I also plan on doing the swap but will add Piaa`s in the factory holes. Someone did this not to long ago.

More light with a terrible pattern (with HIDs) won't help. Trust me, the stock round fogs are pretty much throw away. Better yet, HIDs will also melt the lenses in many cases. Get my drift here?

Any help out there for locating a "front bumper cover" (plastic, dark greyish) for an 08? Are there any good used places local to DC / MD?

Thanks,
Dan

in case you're wondering what it looks like here in the Mid-Atlantic;

I have a 06 w/out fogs and did the switch to the to the square fog bumper. I had to change out all 6 brackets(3 per side) and rig up the upper bumper cause the holes in its brackets dont match up. It was not fun and still is offset a little. I should have gone with round fogs cause its a easy exact switch. I even posted the sell of this bumper in classifieds to see if I can switch to the round fogs. But check my sig for pics of the square bumper. The switch either way can be done.

If your interested ill trade upper bumpers with you so the lower fits better.
