Radar Detector Question

Y'all with Radar Detectors. Do you guys have the annoying spiral cord or have you guys hardwired them. Via the invisicord or other brand.

I have a Passport X50 (blue) I hate having the cord hang down onto the dash and over my HU. I want to possibly do the invisicord, because it plugs into the auto dimming rearview mirror.

Any Thoughts ?

I just ordered an inviscord for my Expd. I have had one in my G35 for about over 2 yrs with no issues, works great. I also have a Mike's mount to mount it on my rear view mirror post. I would like to come up something similar for the Expd. With the Mike's mount it is nearly invisible from outside the car.

i have my beltronics vector 940 right under my rear view mirror hardwired to the power feed to the headlight switch... power cable is run from the underside of the dash, up the a pillar across the headliner and down behind the mirror to tie in with the detector itself

I have a 15 year old whistler mounted right under my rear veiw mirror. I ran the cord up under the head liner and tied it into the map lights main power. I even rigged the fuse holder that used to plug into the lighter socket up there so the radar detector is still fused.

I've got an Escort 8500 but i just use the spiral cord, it stays out of the way for me, maybe try mounting yours a little lower than what you have it now, that way the cord isn't stretched over the HU,

Mine is set at about 6 inches above the dash and still picks every cop, and every stupid false alarm...

I have a valentine 1 and I hardwired it into the fusebox with a straight cord that it comes with. You can probably find one at autozone or somewhere. Just run it up at the top of the windshield and down the side.

My Beltronics RX65 is hardwired via the optional hardwire kit from Beltronics. I ran my wires across the headliner, down the A pillar, and through the dash to the radio turn on wire. I did this because it is the hardwire with a "remote" to give another place to see the lights flash and silence he audible alert instead of reaching up and hitting the button. I ran the remote to the bottom right of the gauges to it can be sen and accessed easily.

Escort makes their own hardwire kit.

Bambo, so you had plenty of room to run it through the headliner down to the fuse box, and the remote to the bottom of the steering wheel where the "computer" controls are located?

I like being able to have the remote mounted close to my steering wheel. I would like to not lose it completely

I've got my Passport 8500 X50 blue hardwired with the Escort wire. The reason I used it over the others is so that I could retain my mute function.
