I went with the Escort Solo 2 - battery operated, so no cord of any type. For now I just carry a supply of AA batteries in the console - get em cheap at the dollar stores. But I plan to eventually hard wire it with the Escort kit made for it.

Using the hardwire kit, mute button by center console. I've since moved it up slightly more, so the cord is less visible (I tuck the end in the headliner when the STI is out.)

The other thing is my camera mount.

My dad's V965 is more or less in the same spot, except his is right below his tint. Have to put it there since the tint is metalized, which hinders performance. My sister's V940 is right above her RVM as well, in the Mustang.

I did the same thing. Keeps the detector hard to see since it's above the mirror and power is right there.

Beltronics has it. They are made by the same company as escort. Checjk the BEL website and it shows accessories. I know they have it for the RX65, for sure.

The hardwire is the exact same with the Beltronics and Escort radar detectors (at least the ones that use the phone style cord.) All that's different is the name. Also, I think the X50 Blues might have had a blue LED instead of a red one for the alert LED, but not too sure.

FWIW, you can use the same hardwire for the V1, but the mute won't work.

So now I'm confused.

I want to hard wire my Escort Solo 2. Had planned to use the Escort wire but the invisicord seems simplest with no need to run wires thru the headliner to the fuse box and so on - and then also run wires and mount the little mute/remote box?

But someone, I think, suggested using the invisicord disables the mute?

Has anyone used the invisicord with an 06 or other model that has only the auto dimming mirror - i.e. without compass, video monitor, etc.?

What's the advantage of the Escort/Beltronics type hook up?

You can mute the radar on the face of the x50, I'm not too sure about the solo. Bestbuy cares the escort smart wire. My BB was out of stock last night when I looked its cheaper on their website and I'll just do in store pick up

It shouldn't disable mute. The only convenience of the Belscort hardwire would be having a mute button at your fingertips (or where you wish to put it) as opposed to having to reach up and muting. With the invisicord, you'd have to put it like normal, plus you don't have to run the cord down the A pillar.

Thanks for the input. After further review I ordered the invisicord today.

You'll be pleased. Don't get discouraged pushing those pins in. They're a tight fit.
