Removing tint
Hey guys....
What is the easiest way to remove the tint and scrape of the residue? Razorblade and soapy water?

why you taking it off....Im an officer and have double 15%....depending on your academy they will glance the parking lot for vehicles...never had issues with mine...I also keep my windows dark so people can't see in my car...lots of officer's do
Dont need anyone stealing any of my duty gear or weapons.
Congrats on going to the academy! Any previous law enforcement experience?
As for taking it off I would take it to someone if you are going that route. It's a pain and is about $100 to have someone remove....you will need a heat gun, scraper, window tint glue remover and LOTS of patience.
Stay safe at the academy and have some fun....it gets much better once you are off FTO!!!

but from what i've heard it's illegal for them to speed or go through red lights unless they have their lights and sirens on. i thought other then those times officers had to obey the law.

We can have darker window tint because we are not doing it for the normal reason of concealing narcotics etc in our vehicles. We do it so people dont look into our vehicles when parked and break into them because they see a uniform, weapons or other equipment...Its one of those things that people don't like but they have to deal with it.
You're not going to get an answer you like...Ive had this discussion many of times....just something you have to live with
I would like to know. My truck carries between $200 and $10,000 worth of equipment at given times and I wanna tint my fronts, but will I have to remove when I get pulled or inspection due?

we can say the same thing, we are trying to protect audio equipment or other valuables.
I've had good luck with plenty of sharp blades, couple rolls of paper towels and a bottle of Windex. Peel the outer layer off, your left with the glue, spray Windex liberally, let it sit, start scraping and wiping blade(s). Careful not to scratch the glass - or yourself. It will come off.
peel, soapy water, fresh razor blades. dont mess up the wiper that runs along the glass. also dont overdue the soapy water. excess will just drain down into your door on that nice electric motor that runs your window.
I used windex with ammonia and new razor blades. If you have a stubborn spot or window make sure it sits in the sun for a few hours. Worst case scenario is to wet the window with windex and then take a garbage bag and seal it around the window and leave facing the sun for a few hours to bake in the ammonia and release the glue.
I have had to do this for the exact reason I got pulled over for it... Had to peel it off and pay a fine.
Easiest way is to just rip the tint off then get a spray can of Stoners glass cleaner spray it heavily, let it soak a bit, then go at it with a razor blade. This process takes some repeating but is the most effective thing I found. Tint removal solution, soapy water, etc.. they all failed me except this.
Best of luck its not fun at all
