trans fault - OD off flashing

This is the third time this has happened to me in about 6 months.

I get a trans fault and my OD light starts flashing. The first two times, it happened in the exact same spot in the road. (on ramp, doing 5-10mph, little decline.) Today it happened on another road....slight decline, doing 5-10mph.

So, it appears that if I am in traffic, on a slight decline, doing 5-10mph, I get this trans fault and OD flashing. If I turn the truck off, put it in park, crank the truck back up.....everything goes away and I have no issues.

My truck has 7800 miles on it.

Anyone have ANY idea what may cause this? The first two times this happened, I checked my fluid level and all was fine. I will be checking it again when I go home this evening.

Did you check it with the engine running? Also you need to get to a autoparts store to the get the codes pulled.

his truck only has 7800 miles on it, it's the dealers problem. take it to them.

Fluid was checked with engine running, on a flat surface, after the engine had heated up and truck was in neutral.

There are no codes....at least, not according to my XCAL2. The OD off light is not flashing, nor is there a trans fault in my display after I turn the truck off and start it up again.

Truck is not in warranty with my mods.

This really has not caused any kind of problem for me, I would just like to know what might be causing it. The truck performs fine as soon as I turn it off and start it up again.

My 2004 super crew has done this for a while now but only if there is moisture in the air, snow or rain. my mechanic told me its a sensor that won't harm the tranny at all and i trust this guy with my life so i have been driving it like this since the summer

The Xcal can't read Ford tranny codes. You need to use a OBD2 scanner that can read manufacturer-specific codes. If the OD light flashed, there WILL be codes.
