Remote starter huge problems

ok so my wife bouught me an awesome christmas present, a prestige keyless entry/remote start. Two day after the install of driving it it died and then when i restarted it the wrench came on the dash and my whole electrical system went crazy. Well she brought it to her mechanic ran diagnostic on it, and now i have failed ECU, trottle stuck open, throttle stuck closed and 9 other theft codes. so the truck has been in the shop every two days since cause the same crap. after disconnecting the battery the check engine light goes off for approximatly two days and then dies and dies and dies, and then check engine light back on again. my wife brought it to work today after they took out the remote start and she drove it and it died 6 times on the way there.
what the hell do i do???
i need help asap cause i have a descent truck that is now a pile of crap since this install
PS my wife works for a mechanic so they are gonna clear all the codes and watch it do it again

Who installed it?

Is there a troubleshooting guide? How about the manufacturer's tech support?

Doesn't appear to be any coherent T/S skills being applied to the problem ... sooo ...

.... De-install and get someone who knows the system implicitly perform the re-install.

Could also be a peckered unit OOTB ....

Hope yer truck does not need a reflash

Good luck.

My guess is you don't have the PATS bypass module. If you don't know what you're doing it's best to take it to someone who does. Check local car audio shops and big stores like best buy who do installs.

If that's the case, then I'll redirect my 'coherent troubleshooting' comment to point right back to myself, as I had assumed a unit such as this would have already included a PATS bypass

What they said. Need to have a Pats bypass.

Also it sounds sorta like who ever put it in did not soader what they did and maybe just taped it. This is not the way to do it.
Need to be soadered or things come loose and go nuts when they ground out etc...

I see your from the Chicago area...

Take your truck to Absolute Sound in Mchenry IL. These guys know what they are doing. I should know I used to work there

They don't stock this system but they will do their best to get you back on track.

i was talkin to my buddy whos dad had the same crap done, remote starter and keyless installed and after that 2 days later same thing happening and he said the electric throttle body went bad or something and it cost 5000 dollars to fix. so Now what do i do.

im about to cry cause im unemployed have a baby coming in a month and broke.

you know, they told me that even if the key wasnt registering it wouldnt do the whole electrical problem, which doesnt make sense considering that when i got the codes from the diagnostic there was 9 theft codes on the script
so im confused on what is really going on here, cause theyre basically telling me that my truck was prolly messed up before i brought it in there with is total BS, sounds like theyre trying to cover there tracks

Man your having some bad luck. Im not sure if you already stated this but did you install it or someone else? if it was a ship then they are fully responsible for this issue! 2nd I would and try to reflash the computer at ford, if its still under warranty then you may get outta it without a charge. Me and my roomate are about to install a remote start alarm on my truck, hes done a few so I hope we have better luck. My last truck had remote start and I remmber them saying they had a key with the chip in the starter box and also a chip in my key to allow me to put it into drive.

hope this helps.

good luck.

wow

yeah i actually got it installed at a shop which were supposable veterans since like 1970. well idk about that, and now im stuck with a ****ty truck, and i dont know if the installation can screw that much up in the electrical system example:throttle stuck open and closed and ECU fail)

yeah, my best friend is a ford tech and I told him I wanted to put a remote start in my 06, since I had one in my 93 nissan pickup. He told me dont do it, because the whole fuse box is computer controlled and it can screw things up. I thought maybe he was just being the typical ford tech about aftermarket stuff, but maybe I'm glad I didn't do it.

Thsi does sound right. You need a total of three keys present.

One of which can be a black that gets programed to match yours.
Then goes into a small box with an lead coming of it that goes around the key cylinder inside the plastic cover.

Not sure why they'd put it in the glove box Normaly and ALWAYS if it's a cut key it would be put in the box and hid up under the dash since it is programed if one did find it and it was cut for your truck it would start it.

GOOD LUCK!! Congrats on the baby!!! And keep your head up...

I've been there to but it gets better!

What's that saying...... When the going gets tuff the tuff get going

It really comes down to how it's done and who's doing it.

I've had mine in my truck since I bought it new in 07.
Not one issue!! It's a Directed Electronics (DEI) / Viper system.

While at the shop we fixed many of systems that where done wrong using crimp caps or just tape to hold it all together... This is BAD...

When done right... It's pretty much just sitting there doing nothing till you want to start it, lock it etc...

Not saying things don't happen but... You get the idea.

so...

ok so is this the reason why all this is going on now???? all because of a chipped key???
im so confused on how this would cause this to happen to all this at once.

the funny part is when i talked to the shop that installed it, they said that my truck must have been screwed up before i brought it in there.

can anyone come to mchenry and install it for me lol???
im hurting so bad here without my truck, then to make things worse, my other pile i been driving just hit a boulder or ice ball and now my car sounds like its dragging the oilpan on the ground, but....when i looked nutin there
so now im really stressed.

i checked the absolute sound webpage and its under construction.
