[QUOTE=ManualF150;4017737]Yes... anytime something can potentially get shorted it SHOULD be protected by a BUSSMANN fuse. Especially something like that. Thus since it shorted the "Fuel Injector/PCM Power" fuse, I would bet money that the FPDM caused the short thus blowing the fuse saving your truck from a possible explosion, burnout PCM, and/or fire. That's what fuses are for and it did what it was intended to do -- blow.

Also if you notice "Fuel Injector/PCM Power", that FPDM has a circuit board too just like the ECU.

Thanks. I sure hope this is all it is, and that I can find one. I just wasn't sure if the FPDM would be connect to the Fuel Injector/ PCM Power fuse or not

Think of the truck having a computer network built in... that FPDM is just another module to the ECU networked. That FPDM does a lot of work too. So if the FPDM or the ECU decide to short, it kills the fuel injectors too. Ingenious, eh?

Well, kind of... but sometimes obnoxious when not knowing what you are looking for.

Got my truck towed into a shop. They figure it's the fuel pump driver module. Should be in tomorrow and hopefully good to go. Also learned the the lock cylinder in the bumper that you pull out to lower the spare tire was all froze up. So I'm making the change to carrying the spare in the bed under my toolbox. Pretty glad I found out that I couldn't drop the spare tire at a time that I didn't need to do it.

Thanks for all the help an advice everyone. Hopefully this is the fix!

Well it was the module. Had a nice hole rotted through the aluminum and had a nasty burnt smell in it. Ended up as a nice $475 job with towing, a new battery, and oil change in there too.

its common. the older modules sat right on the crossmember and would corrode right through the backside. New modules come with bolts to space it off the crossmember a bit to keep it from happening again.

How many miles were on your truck when this happend... Is there a typical number of miles that the FPDM tends to go out around???

There's not an exact amount of miles the FPDM dies at. Get under your truck, remove it, inspect and either sand it down, paint it (if it's decent) and space it off the frame, or order a new FPDM.

I have a 2008 and replaced mine this past winter. I was at about 30k miles with a 2.5 year old truck that had only seen one winter. I didn't have any issues, but I would rather be safe than sorry.

Don't forget to check the fuse that bew again after replacing the FPDM, if the FPDM was the cause of the blown PCM fuse it likely blew it again the first time your tried to start it again after fuse replacement since the short would have still potentially been present.
