Question New Shocks

Hey guys I'm looking to buy some Bilstein shocks for my truck. It's an 04 F-150 4x4 Supercrew. With a 5.4. My question is I see that a LOT of people on here have these, and they all say like around 370 for a set of 5100's. I already have a 2.5 AS so I want the Heavy Duty ones. If you have the HD ones how much did they cost? Where would be the cheapest place to get them? Also I have around 58,000 miles on my stock ones. What do you think would be the difference? Thanks

I run the heavy duty Bilsteins. I've got just shy of 80K on mine now and they're holding up great. A bit rusty but that doesn't hurt anything. I bought mine thru shockwarehouse.com, their price was reasonable and shipping (then) was free.

Thats what i want to non adjustable 5100's. I like the plated look of the 5100's more than the HD ones. I just want to save the money since it would be pointless to get the 5100's and put them on the stock height setting. I thought about getting the 5100's and taking off my AS 2.5 but the 5100's only go to 2 in. so it wouldn't be as level as it is now and I would have to get a new alignment. So non adjustable 5100's would be what I want.

400 is more than I really want to pay. Considering i've already spent 70 for the leveling kit. I have looked at their site before. I just want to know the cheapest way possible with still getting what I want. Can some other people chime in that have Bilsteins and share where you got them, etc.?

Wow these have really gone up in price ! I was going to say try topguncustomz, but I just was on their site and they list them at $398.00. I only paid $278.00 for mine last January. These shocks look nice but are a little bit stiff too

My first mod when I bought my '04 new was Bilstiens. Still got them 5 years later. I highly recomend them. Great handling and long lasting.
They are pricey but well worth it because you'll need to replace your truck before your Bilstiens.
I feel they are the best on the market.
I've ran nothing but Bilstiens on all my trucks for 20 years.

Good Luck

Thats what I'm talking about. Where are people getting these at these days. For a good price at least. They are just so high. I just don't want to spend extra money for the lift setting I do not need. So what should I get?

shockwarehouse has the cheapest prices. HOWEVER, call/email to make sure they have them. Just because they have them listed on their website, doesn't mean they currently have them. I learned that lesson the hard way.

They have a set of 4 for $392.50 with free shipping. Plus get an extra 5% off if you use promo code ISTAYED or F150 . So $372.85 shipped.

Just make sure they have them!!

The HD are yellow and blue, cost less, and front pair install at stock height only.

The 5100s are silver, cost more, and front pair can be set to any one of three heights.

I replaced my stock ones at 8,000 miles because that is when I was ready.

I think the front HDs are currently out of stock at most places. I replace the rears first, and they did run fine and improve the ride.

What bilstins do you have? I have de 5100 and i'm very disapointed with the durability. They only last 2 years (about 60,000 miles) i had in the past HD yellow bilstein in my Chevy S-10 and they last much much more (can't remember but at least twice.

Also the HD has lifetime warranty and 5100 only 3 months

Thanks for your input.

Unsure of the number but mine are the yellow/blue ones. As I mentioned my first mod. Now my truck has 119k miles. Still handles and drives great. Tire wear is even and equal all around.
