Question Headlight bulbs

I want to change my headlight bolbs to brighter ones but not sure what blubs will be the best. I went to the local auto parts store and checked out the Silverstars but all they had was the middle ones. Theres 3 different Silverstars and I want ed the best one but the guy said they dont make that one in a H13/9008. So what kind of blubs are you guys using to make your headlights brighter? Thanks

most of us are running HID kits.

Silverstars are your best bet for Halogen style aftermarket bulbs.

I think most of the HID's make a blueish tent to your head lights though. I could be wrong...

not all HIDs have blue tint to them, you can go lower to like a 4300k, Retro Solutions & DDM seem to be the most popular kits on here. I just ordered a set, that'll be here next week I hope

6000K will give you a slight blue hue, but mostly a pure white. I wouldn't go above 6K ever if you want the most usable light, 4300K is what OEM HID bulbs are (BMW, Lexus, etc). Higher the number, the more blue (and eventually violet) you will see, which reduces visible light.

So if I read right nothing higher then 6000. What brand and where to buy?
Are the kits plug and go or do you have to wire them in? Never done HIDs before so Im not sure about them.

I wanted the ultras and went with the regular silverstars and I'm quite happy with them. Replacing the bulbs and realigning the beams helped significantly. I didn't want to deal with a HID of unknown quality leaving me blinded and stranded at night. I guess they are illegal for a good reason too

I emailed Sylvania 11/2009 and got this:
At this time we do not offer part number H13 in our SilverStar ULTRA product line. Our regular SilverStar product, part number H13ST, is the highest upgrade that we offer for OEM part H13/9008. We continue to add new parts to our SilverStar ULTRA product line a couple times a year so feel free to re-inquire in the spring for updated information.

Unless you are going to get projector-style headlights, don't bother with HID. The bi-xenon kit will cost you about $125 (is plug-and-play). The headlight housings will cost another $200 or so. Or you can buy a retrofit HID kit for the factory housings (to modify yourself) for $350 all inclusive. The way you make it sound, $300+ is not what you want to spend for better lighting.

The silverstars are pretty decent, more light than stock bulbs
