Gas Gauge not reading correctly

Hey guys... last night I went to the gas station with about 8 gallons of gas in my tank. I topped it off by adding 18 gallons into it. When I started the truck back up now all it shows on the gauge is a half tank. It does raise slowly, but raises quickly to a half tank when it starts up. I know it is full because I put the gas in it. Any ideas? It is a 2008 F-150 Supercrew. I figured I would wait a few days and go to the dealer under warranty but thought I would ask you guys. It is about 20 degrees here right now. Thanks!

Scott

It's happened to mine once or twice. Did you happen to leave the key in the ignition while filling up? Wait and see if it does it again at your next fill up.

That happened to me once when I topped it off, it should be okay after you burn a gallon or two.

Don't worry, it just the anti-slosh sensor playing with the computer. I did this when I filled up. 24 gallons and said I was still on the E. Yeah, big worry there since I just bought the truck. Leave the key turned all the way off when you fill up and shouldn't have a problem. It will raise slowly with each start and as you cruise around. Took 5-6 starts and like 15mins of straight driving the time I did it to go from E to F =P.

Strange.....I did a search and read a few threads on this.

Mine is doing the last 2 fillups. I filled up last night with less than 1/4 tank. It stayed below 1/4 tank last night and this AM after a couple of starts.

On the way home this evening it was showing about 1/2 tank.

I don't think I've ever had my key in the ingnition while fueling.

I found one thread whey someone suggested turning the ignition on and off 8 times. Then turning on for 8 seconds .....then off. This procedure was said to reset the ECM. Well.............didn't change anything for me.

I would like to know what the problem really is.
