Headliner

Just thinking out loud here , my friend pointed out to me the other day and asked why my headliner was gray. (black lariat interior - black seats and black carpet , gray headliner ).

i ve been looking at it every time i get in the truck now and it bothers me

did a search on here and didnt find much, besides how much of a pain it is too take out the headliner

Any one on here that painted their's or had the fabric redone ?

I have heard the easiest way to get it out is through the rear window; yes taking out the rear window! Or you can take your chances trying to fold it/squeeze it through the front doors. Neither appeals to me..

If you find headliner paint let me know; I was just going to get some fabric glue and a huge sheet of black fabric and go after it while it was still installed, PIA?! Hell yea that is why I have not done it yet

In a supercab its real easy to get out, did anyone try moving the seats all the way up and turning it sideways? I got a quote to do mine in suede for 275 because the first owner burned it w a cigarette, ended up just getting a good one out of an xlt

Looked promising till I watched the video and he says for leather , vinyl, or products with like surfaces. It does not look like it works with fabric... like it says

I found this stuff, http://www.simplyspray.com/upholstery.html

As stupid as it sounds I may stop by a craft store like hobby lobby or micheals and see what they have..

From my experience i wouldn't use the spray paint, even if it is for fabrics. If your taking it out anyway, why not re-cover it?
One of the other forums I'm on, they do this all the time.
here's the "the unofficial MASTER HEADLINER fabric modification thread"
This is one of those things that I would like to do as well; so if you end up doing it be sure to do a write up! haha

Edit: Sorry, it's an archived thread, so some of the pics are down. But most of them are still up.

Thing is I don't want to take it out; I don't have the time or patience. If I can spend an hour with some fabric paint, I don't see why not? It's the headliner that sees virtually no wear and tear, how could it not hold up? If I could find something that was more of a die as opposed to a paint that would be even better, just messy.

This mod is really low on my priority list

If and when you guys decide to pull it out the liner, I've heard the harley 150's came with a black headliner. Don't know any part#'s or price, just wanted toss the info out there.

if you can get it out its not a hard job to do. i did mine this summer and the hardest part was removing all the old fabric and foam. i know for the screw its about getting it out but i dont think youll get the same results with a paint nor would i want to be painting mine while its in the truck
