Vibration at 56-62mph

I have a vibration at 56-62 mph. I have a 05' f-150 extended cab fx4. My dad has an 06' chrome package extended cab and his does the same thing. I also used to have an 06' identical to my dads and it did the same thing. Any suggestions?

It's probably the E brake not releasing

Wasn't there a TSB on some kind of driveshaft issue? I'm fighting this problem as well.

I've read a few people had their drive shafts rebalanced or replaced. Honestly I don't recall if it there was a TSB but I do think there was. I think there was talk about it in that thread I linked to.

I have fought this since the day I purchased the truck. My only solution has been to have the tires roadforce balanced regularly.

I know some of the trucks come with a rubber damper that goes on the rear of the frame that might be something to look at?

There was a TSB out there for the drive shaft, I had it done a long time ago way back in 2005. They replaced the entire drive shaft assembly.

My first set of tire on the truck did it a little bit. About a year ago I put a new set of tires on my truck and noticed as it was real bad at around 55 then it would go away then come back again around 70+ to about 80 then around 90 it start again. I took the truck in 3 differnt times for them to fix it they never got it right they wanted me to leave it with them for the day saying an hour late in the afternoon wasn't enough time for them to fix it. So I said to hell with it and lived with it ever since. But at least they got it to where it is only around 55 to 60 and a little bit around 70 all other speeds it is fine.

I got it twice at 60mph... 3 months apart. I do 65 on the highway all the time and no issues. I will eventually have them rebalanced

I've had the same issue for a month or so. I had the OEM Michelin's replaced with "BFG Long Trail T/A Tour", 275/60-17 vs. the stock 255/65-17 size tires. I immediately noticed a vibration in the steering wheel, I took it back a week later and had the alignment accomplished (all in the green per printout) and they automatically did a RF Balance and said it was good but I did not get the numbers on each wheel/tire. The vibration now starts at 30-32 mph and increases in severity up to my tested highway speed of 80 mph. I do not drive at 80 mph on a normal basis but only tried it this one time to evaluate the vibration.

One ? I am baffled to why the vibration is worse after the RF Balance which checks for tires out of round, bent wheels, etc.

I did have the drivers front rotor/bearing replaced at 32K miles (under warranty) but did not replace pads or the pass side. I am now at 42K miles and only have an Extended Service Plan to handle any possible repairs that may be needed. So, I am out of Factory Warranty and this mess starts.

I looked up the Suspension Subframe Damper at www.Fordparts.com and it runs $178.00 + s&h but they do not ship that part. So, I am going to replace front rotors/bearings and pads and hope this fixes it. If not I will try a re-balance at a Independent tire shop and go from there.

Which trucks have the one piece driveshaft? My '07.5 has the two piece driveshaft.

James
