Extended Warranty Question -- http://www.fordwarrantys.com/

I've got some extra cash and I want to buy an extended warranty for my 2007 F150 XL 5 Speed Manual 4x2 V6 4.2l Longbed Regular Cab truck.

I went online and checked this place out:
http://www.fordwarrantys.com/

After calling them, I found out I can get a warranty for a reasonable amount.

I then went over to the dealer, and they wanted to charge me double!

Now... here's my question...

IS this http://www.fordwarrantys.com/ place real? I know I talked to a real person, but I've been scammed before through auto places trying to make a quick dollar.

According to them, they are a dealer in CT.

Has anyone dealt with them? Or can give me a recommendation... all I've got is 2 months and like 3k left on the 3/36k bumper to bumper... and I plan on getting the full Premium Care 7/100k warranty.

you need to get an exact listing of the stuff covered.

we had a customer today with an extended warranty, and her ballast was going on on her factory HIDs, and the warranty only covered the headlight switch out of the whole headlight system.

But i agree most of the time you are wasting your money. Most extended warranties are 1-2k and that should be enough to cover most any major repairs on a simple Ford truck

My personal experience so far with aftermarket warrantees has been similar to the general consensus you'll read on this site. I spent more than I've claimed against the warrantee, though I still have two more years, so I can't say for sure. The warrantee I have (not the one you posted) has been easy to work with. They've paid for everything I've asked them to so far. However, not enough things have needed repair to justify the initial purchase. Knowing what I know now, I'd recommend putting that extra cash in a liquid, interest-bearing account and keep it available for future repairs.

see thats just it. my brother just had his whole transmission replaced with 87k (very rough life) for a couple hundred bucks. he had a 100k mile warranty. so it paid off in his situation i would say. but what if you dont have a tranny go out. what if its just dumb little things. not worth it. my truck has had no issues except spitting out a plug at about 90k. still that only cost 500 bucks (i know i know) to get fixed. now my truck has 111k. no issues.

It is NOT an aftermarket warranty. It is the Ford ESP, which is by Ford Motor Company.

It's the same warranty you would get when you buy the truck.

I just want to know if this Lombard Ford Dealer is in fact real.

i had the extra care warranty threw ford and even though i only used it once for a powersteering pump it seemed to be good. I had the 50 dollar deductable. 103,000 miles and only thing to go wrong was the power steering pump maybe it would be best to just put that 1700 dollars into your saving acct and when something goes wrong you have it.

Also consider the type of vehicle you warranty. I have the XL also, and there is not nearly as much to cover on this truck vs. a loaded 4WD. Something to think about. However, I did purchase the Ford Premium Care ESP on my '06 Explorer, just due to how much equipment is on this SUV and how hard it is to get to most of the components.

I price shopped them against a few others and got the best price at www.buy-ford-warrenty.com

This was for my brand new 2008 F150. The price was a LOT less than my dealer was willing to go even after I told him that I would buy from him if he got close. Anyhow, a few days after I bought it on-line I checked with my dealers srvice department and they confirmed that Ford had my extended warrenty in their computer system, so all is good.

Now for opinions: Lots of folks tell me that I am crazy to buy the extended warrenties, but my experience (I am 52 and have had a few cars) is that they are worthwhile on average if you keep the vehicles for a reasonably long time. I expect to have this truck about 7 or 8 years and go at least 100,000 miles. I can assure you that if I added up all that I have spent on extended warrenties and all that I have had covered, I come out ahead. On the other hand, I can't say that would necessarily be true because if I hadn't had the warrenties I would have done more of the repairs myself or had more done by shade-tree mechanics (at a lower cost), especially as the vehicles got near the end of my use. There certainly is a bit of insurance value too as it ensures that you won't get stuck with some huge costs if a tranny goes or an engine goes, etc.

My friend is a service advisor where I maintain my truck, he had told me times that people needed new rear ends or trannys & how much an out of pocket expense that would be! That is what sold me + I plan on driving my truck until it is just a frame with me sitting on top! (LOL)....So I have no worries for at least the 1st 7 years, since it will be seven years until I am out of warranty, since I don't put many miles on her no more with the commuter vehicle I bought last summer!.....

WOOOOOOOO...Horsey!

Ummmm, my extended warranty has already covered cam phasers, drive axle, rear seals and something else they did, don't have paper work in front of me but I recall them quoting the full cost around 4k and I paid 100 bucks. I live by extended warranties and get them on every vehicle my wife or I have ever owned HOWEVER I always get a manufacture extended warranty.

I spoke with Mike and he got me a superb deal. They are VERY nice people over there.

He also told me that I can extend my Ford ESP with a powertrain or basecare plan until 147k and an additional 4 years if I choose for cheap... and something I never knew about.

Extended Warranties

I believe in Factory Extended Warranties, having used them a couple of times. It's just like buying life or medical insurance, you insure what you can't afford to lose. I also figure them as to cover the 'big' stuff rather than piddly stuff. I've increased the deductable so to extend the period of coverage and handle a major item should it come up rather than a bulb going oit. Recently bought an 07 XLT and purchased an extended warranty for it the other month. I hadn't planned it this way but after my initial inquiry I wasn't able to buy one right then. About a month later I got an email reducing the cost by about $200 additional over the initial price they gave me, so I bought it then rather than waiting.

By the way, my Ford Extended Warranty was substantially less than $1k, so it sounds like I got a good deal compared to the other noted.

Yeah, I got it for a great deal... I got the 7 year / 100k mile PremiumCare warranty with the $0 deductable. This way if there are any problems, it will will be fixed and the truck will be like new for the 7y/100k time period, which is excellent.

Just as a hint... I went over to my dealer, here in Yorkville, NY where I bought the truck and they wanted $2860 for the same warranty that I got for less than 1/2 of that. So that gives you an idea of how much I spent. In my mind, it is worth it and I know at least $1000 of work will need to be done on it by 7y/100k... so why not, right?
