Rearend
Rearend
My rearend looks like it has a leak where the drive shaft hooks to the rearend is this something that can be done at home or do i need to take it somewhere. Its on a 04 supercrew With 5.4 Is it just a seal or something else? Thanks
I actually just had this same issue about a month and a half ago. Found out to be the rear pinion seal. I was still under warranty at the time and it cost me $100 for my warranty deductible at the dealer. Other quotes I received(all Ford dealers) were around the $230-$250 range. I didn't want to attempt it because there is a nut that you have to know the correct backlash on to get it all put back together correctly. From what I understand, if not done correctly, it can mess up your differential...and that's a high ticket item! I see you're in Locust Grove...is that Georgia?
