help deciding, fx4 vs. lariat

im aiming for a 07-08 f150, i like the fx4 becasue my dad will be purchasing this for me (no comments please, its for graduation and getting rid of my troublesome jeep) and its easy to say 07-08 fx4 with leather seats ( because that has the automatic climate control, ect, lux. package), but what i think id really like is a lariat.

now when i look around at lariats, are some of them 4x2? what colors were offered on a lariat trim? all im seeing is white, red, some dark stone, and occasional black. im not big on the arizona beige, i like the chrome front bumpers. i also like the lariat grille and the 20 inch wheels. im really likeing JesseRohr's white f150 with a 2.5 level and 33's. (https://www.f150online.com/forums/2850552-post1.html)

most lariats i find seem to sit pretty level, did they rake the lariats less?

do all fx4s have painted front bumpers?

hows fords reputation with their options? i have a pretty basic grand cherokee now, and the limiteds had allot of problems with their options, autp dimmign mirror going bad, heated seats going, ect, do fords options hold up well? i plan on having this truck for a while and i dont want to regret getting a loaded up lariat if my power pedals are gonna break one day.

does doing a 2.5 inch lift in the front from autospring deminsh ride quality?

i know you can get a lariat with the limited slip rear end (axle code on the door sticker starts with a letter) but what about the offroad valved shocks? anyone actually feel that those shocks are better?

are the fx4 seats more comftorble than the lariats?

sorry for so many questions, i wish i could go back to the ford site for 2008 and figure all this stuff out.

grand cherokees have a site called www.wjjeeps.com where all the colors, interiors, options are listed out and everything, do f150s have something like this?

If you can get a FX4 with the Luxury package like what I have, that is what I would get!

Yes, all FX4's do have the painted bumpers.
I have a 2.5" level kit on mine. They ride will not change. Still as smooth as stock.
Seats depends on cloth vs. leather.

ive just read in a few places that fx4 seats are more comfortable than lariat's.

anyone have a list some where of what ext. colors were available 07-08 for the fx4s and then for the lariats?

it just seems like most of the lariats im finding are white. and soemtimes when i get one thats not white or red its not a supercrew.

why do some lariats have a chrome grille and different chrome wheels

i mean is there any reason to pick an fx4 over a lariat with a limited slip? i hear the skid plates arent that much of a help and i would get leather in an fx4 too. so the differences arent that much different.

im thinking a black, or darkstone lariat with chrome bumpers and black interior. but is it worth it to get less options with an fx4?

and why do some 07-08 fx4s have leather interior and no automatic climate control.

I would personally go with the Fx4. I like the painted to match bumpers (my last truck had a good bit of chrome, and I am over all that), and I like the sportier, younger feeling interior. Plus I like the rims (except 20's I do like those with some 305/55's) and grille better. To each his own. Don't get me wrong, the Lariats are extremely nice and you really can't go wrong either way. I just like the Fx4 styling better.

Oh I forgot that I think the comfort level is going to be the same regardless of which trim level you go with. And I have every option they offered in 2005 on my King Ranch and I use them all, from the sun roof to the heated power folding mirrors, to the power sliding rear window, the adjustable pedals, the heated seats....everything works like it did the day I bought it. 4 years and 62,000 miles later, not a single issue, all is good. I love Ford Motor Company

Most FX4's have manual climate control, the auto setup only came on the fx4 w/luxury package. Leather is not standard in an FX4 either, sporth cloth in black or gray was the norm. You could get sport leather (perforated) as an option in any fx4, whereas the smooth leather was part of the luxury pack.

FX4's only came in 6 colors, red, white, blue, black, silver, and gray.

BTW, the seats are the same from the xl all the way up to the king ranch, the just changed the upholstery. The seat cushions are the same across the board, its the upholstery that gives the impression of better seats.

Might I suggest an 06 Lariat?

If so, then look for the rarest of colors, Smokestone. Only offered on the F150 in 2006 and only on the Lariat. It's a champagne sort of color which has a silver hue under street lights.

Of course I'm biased towards it for obvious reasons.....

I also prefer the Lariat over the FX2/FX4. there isn't a noticeable difference between a 4x4 Lariat and an FX4 w/Luxury other than the painted bumpers, dash cluster, and skid plates. I have a 4x2 Lariat w/every option and love it. I didn't want the painted bumpers and I hated the FX4 grill (wanted a KR but limited colors and again, crappy H-bar grill). I never use the power pedals, but I suppose if someone else needed to drive the truck they'd come in handy.

FX4 Luxury >*

FX4 luxury has everything the Lariat has short of the information center, which, IMO, is useless anyway. Had one in my other cars, never used them. I like the layout of the FX4 cluster over the Lariat as well. FX4 Luxury has the best of both worlds.
