Is it on the side toward the motor? The outlet side?

You work the tool down into the line as far as possible, then hold the filter and pull the line toward it to get it to release before pulling back. Once< i had one that would not releae. Ended up taking it to a lube joint and they had to pull it out. They said that happened when they rusted. They put in a replacement clip.

I had alot harder time with the little blue clip than I did on the side that needed the "special tool". I wouldn't think an 06 would have rusted up already, I just changed my 05 out about a month ago.

I recall you have to push the tool towards the line while pushing the line towards the tool, then pull both together away from the filter.

Mine was a pain to get off too. I just tried to stay patient (didn't really happen) and kept working at it until it came loose.

I tried that. i've tried every which way i can think of. How far does the tool go in. what size line is it. The tool kit i got has different sizes, i tried it with the grey and blue one.
