Question 12v Power Source location in Rear???

I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere but could not find any information on it. I'm wanting to install a set of aftermarket backup/trailer hitch lights on my factory hitch. http://www.whitenight.com/ My question is: Is there a 12v source around the back of the truck, preferably a constant? I have a feeling that I will have to run a dedicated wire fused to the battery. The lights have an overide so you can turn them on manually without turning the truck on. You can also turn them off completely or leave them "as-is" for when they come on when in reverse. I have a 7/4 pin trailer connector and I can't even find power to that, just reverse lights. Thanks for any info you all can give me. I can't wait to try out the lights!

Have you installed the relay that came with the wiring pig tail for the trailer brake controller? I believe that once you install the relay you will have a constant 12V power to the rear. I know that I have a constant power in the 7 pin connector.

For a prefab clean install KC Lights makes a constant on wire harness for backup lights that is sold seperately.

i ran a set of 55 watt fogs back there for extra reverse lights and i did have to run 1 wire from the back to the front of the truck. i also added a new power from my battery for the install to a relay and switch inside the cab, its not really that big of a pain but if your wanting a 12v constant it may be your best bet

I know I had the pig tail at one time in my glove box, but for some reason I think it might have gotten tossed when we moved. If this works, does anyone happen to know the part number so I can go pick one up?

I will look into KC and see if they offer the same adapter as White Night. Thanks for the help.

Had some time to look it up. Here's a linky

KC Back Up System Switch Kit

Also be sure you have a big enough wire running everywhere as to not fry it with too much juice. Just tapping into a tail light wire or something may cause problems in the long run.

If you have the 7pin trailer hitch there is a reverse light circuit within that connector and a 15 amp circuit thats hot when the truck runs. This is the circuit that requires to add the relay that came with the towing kit.

One place to pick up the reverse circuit is inside the passenger side kick panel. I used it to drive a relay and then only had to run one wire outside the truck to the lights.
