Burnout mode?

This seems to work on our Mustang, so I thought I'd try it on the truck. Doesn't seem to have much, if any effect. Anyone else try it?

1. Put key in ignition and turn on, but don't start.
2. Wait for all chimes to finish.
3. Slowly press gas pedal to floor and lift it.
4. Wait about 6 seconds then start.
5. Go for a ride.

It's supposedly a trick to recalibrate the pedal and eliminate throttle lag.

I think there was a thread about this a while back, if I remember correctly it turned out that it didn't help.

AFAIK it only works on v6 5 speed F150s....

I think I tried this once before and I didn't notice anything different.

i think this only works on ford's drive by wire. a cable throttle wouldnt be affected by this. at least i dont think

edit: it works very well on mustangs. i put on exhaust and for some reason had HORRIBLE throttle lag. did this trick and it improved the lag even more than it was when it was all stock

FWIW

I've never heard of this. My truck is a responsive as can be. Sometimes it's too responsive, especially when cold it will jump a bit. I have a 5 spd though.

Dang mixed, this proves that it gives results beyond what we expected of it. Especially better than mine.. I tried it earlier and it didn't work, so i figured hey wonder what happens if i put my truck in drive and shut it off. So i tried this when it was in drive turned the truck on while still in drive (push button start), and no results at this point i was becoming very dissapointed and frustrated. So I thought hum, maybe i need to just leave the throttle pushed in while i start the truck. Not thinking that I had still left the truck in drive I tried this. The results were exactly what i was wanting, my truck seemed very responsive as it took off in my drive way as soon as it fired. With a small smoke cloud behind me I accelerated faster and faster towards my garage, while i was still in disbelief that my truck was actually this responsive. I then crashed into the side of my house, right now my parents are home from work and the insurance company is here looking at the damage. I don't think my parents are too happy...

Sorry for the repost, i was away for awhile, well at least I humored the patients in the mental ward a bit

A buddy of mine is a BMW tech, they have a sequence on certain cars where the German engineers tell them what to do (put the air on, radio on this station, right foot in, tap your head) and then instruct them to 'go out and flog' the car. They all refer to it as burnout mode.

Chris04v6, we all have drive by wire.
