Just another story of salesmen not knowing
Just another story of salesmen not knowing
My wife has this idea in her head that we need to get a crew cab. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't mind getting one, but my 04 has been basically built proof (knock on wood) and also its paid off!!
So while cruising around on craigslist I saw this truck:http://eauclaire.craigslist.org/ctd/1391608444.html So I called on it and asked a few questions, one of which was what gears are in the diffs. He tells me that he will have to had a service guy run the vin on Monday to find out. So I told him that you can just go to the drivers door and look on the sticker and find to the code, and that I can find out from the axle code what gears it has. So then he starts to tell me that the axle code doesn't have anything to do with the gear ratio, that it only tells you what size rear end it has, WTF?!?! You are trying to sell vehicles and you don't hardly know anything about them?
The salesman said that since I live over 1.5 hrs away he would work up a rough price and call me back. He said the best that he would be able to do is my truck (04, loaded, 46000 miles) + $7500 to boot! I politely said thanks for your time and that I wasn't interested for that price. I thought was very high, especially considering that I had gotten a price of $6500 to boot towards a 05 F250 crew cab, lariat, 5.4L, 4X4 with 54000 miles.
So we will see what the wife has to say. Personally the extra money that we would have to pay looks alot better in our checking account than in the dealerships.

I'd have to agree with you even though it be damn hard not to jump when the wife says it's cool. I'm actually looking for a nice used Suburban, Excersion, or conversion van for those all in the family trips because I don't want another big bill.
Don't know if it matters or not, but according to this:

it has 3.73 limited slip.

I like your truck better anyway. Plus you know what its been through. That one is filthy on the inside if you look close you can see mud next to the gas peddle in the carpet and the doors are nasty.
WOW $23k for a 06 with 60k miles and completely basic (no leather, console shift, sliding rear window, backup sensors.) Not to mention it is dirty as hell. And it has a trailer brake controller, no telling what that POS hauled. Let that one go. You can find a much better deal.

Thanks guys, the compliments mean alot! After talking it over with the wife last night, unless my truck goes to hell or I find a killer deal a F250/350 we will be keeping it for a long time. We just can't justify spending that much money on something that only gets driven 3000 miles a year. Plus the wife 05 Focus is pushing 90,000 miles, so we are going to wait until she needs a new car and put the money towards that.
Bloomer Ford had the F150, also the salesman that did know much. Dahl Automotive in La Crosse had the F250, which according to their website they have now sold, because it is not listed anymore.
I agree.
