Plain and simple, they are just looking for reasons to hate or talk crap about the #1 truck. It's a damn solid engine.

5.4 3v ???

I first must say that my 07 Screw is the first ford I have owned in a number of years. In fact, the first Ford since the late 80's. Having been a GM person most of my driving time, when I did look for a used truck, I decided I wanted a Ford Screw with the 5.4 3V motor. Found one with only a little over 12,000 miles on it and it fit the bill. I have been happy with it since my purchase. I must say that I too have been reading a lot of Ford forums since my purchase and have concerns about the 5.4. I read too many issues about Cam Phasers and the Spark Plug's along with other issues.

That said, I have had a number of LT1's, LS1's and my wife's Buick Ranier has the 5.3 which is just a smaller LS1. All have been flawless.

I am one of those folks that changes oil at 3K intervals and do not wait for the on-board oil life calculators to tell me it is time. My vehicles are always well cared for. None are driven "hard".

I hope that I will have the same good fortune with my 5.4................

You can't beat the ride of the Ford. I, like everyone else on here, bought it to look good and work hard. I am not a very mechanical guy but when all my friends are at the shop with the Chevy and Dodge, who is bringing them home - ME! Just a simple observation about the better built Ford's, look at the tow hooks as compared to the competition. I will have to say that I have read a lot about the transmissions and about a year ago when mine started whining I got nervous, well of course the dealership wanted to replace it when it really ended up being some needle bearings wearing flat and I had to replace the torque converter. Other than that it has been oil changes, tires and a lot of wash/waxes. If I wanted speed I would have gotten a Mustang.

I love my ford but my 2001 chevy z-71 3" BL 285/75/16 with 185k would haul when I stepped on the gas. As for my 05 150 same pep but I just see the fuel gauge hit empty way quicker than my old chevy. I had aprox 20 gal tank and could hit about 400 miles with a very heavy foot. My 150 has what a 30 gal tank and im barely hitting 330. I say they both have pro's and con's, we could argue who is better for decades. I dont care who is better I'm a truck guy so I like trucks.

The only thing thats better about the 5.3 is that the oil filter is easier to get to. That's the only dislike I have for the 5.4

Hauled a yard of river rock this weekend @ almost 2k lbs and it was no issue at all. I've "been there done that" with sports cars. My truck is what I always come back to.

Stock for stock pound for pound, the f1 has the 1/2 ton crown in the bag! I love my truck and with a few mods I have it makes me smile even more. When I stomp on that skinny peddal it moves!

I was just thinking about how much I love my 5.4 today when I was cruising on the highway....great passing power, great torque, never complains...leaps and bounds above what the competition was offering in 07'..the truck as been flawless minus a blend door acuator

My only problem with the 5.4 is that don't have one. At least my 4.6 is bullet proof.
