Engine light on

Hi all,

Question: My engine light came on as i was driving home from work yesterday.
The book says it has something to do with the emissions system?
I have recently replaced the fuel and air filter.
Is this something i need to take in to the dealer?

Thanks~

Have a local auto parts store run a diagnostic on it and get the code. Mine did that a while back with an emissions light and it was just the cam sensors, under $10 each at autozone and less than 5 min. to install. There are two of them, one on each head in the front of the engine with one small bolt and a wire connector on each one.

It could also be the MAF sensor needs cleaned if you are using an oiled filter.

Hope this helps.

If the part in bold is all you've done recently then that shouldn't throw a code.

Try disconnecting the battery, leave it disconnected for about 1-3mins, reconnect it and see if the code is visible. If it's still there, follows huddles93's suggestion.

Post the outcome [exact code and part] for anyone else that may encounter a similar issue down the track.

Good luck.

PS: An oiled AM filter never thru a code on my truck when I had one for several months before my S&B CAI system.

I do have a Fram Air Hog, but as you said have never had an issue with it.
I will have an Autozone check out the code this weekend and will post.
Thanks

Exclamation

When I changed my air filter once I got a CEL.Found out it was the rubber grommet for the MAF sensor wires that was not put back in the hole on the filter housing.
