Got tranny flushed today
I took the truck into a local garage to have the tranny flushed and filter changed. I dropped it off at 7 this morning and they called just before 1 this afternoon and said it was done, but they also said that the price was alittle higher than I was quoted. So after work I went and picked it up, they had quoted me "around $80" and the price at pick up was $96.36. The said the extra cost was the price of the filter kit, most are around $15 but the one for my truck was $32.
The truck drives just as it did before, tranny temp is the same 140-150 range. The only difference is now it engages from D to R and R to D alot faster. Before there was about a 3-4 second delay, now it is only about 1 second.
The truck has 46000 on it right now and this was the first service done to the tranny. I figure even if the tranny only lasts til 75000 miles I am doing good considering what I tow and haul with it. But with only putting around 3000 miles on each year now (+/- a couple hundred miles) it will take 9-10 more years for me to reach 75000. And if I have to throw a $2000 tranny in at some point in time, its ALOT cheaper than making payments on a new truck.

mine as 32000 on it and it goes in on thurs to the dealer for my flush. just flushing now. service manager said it was a waste of money to do both now. it will be fully covered at any dealer i go to if something happens. we leave on our first long camping trip, about 1500 miles round trip on Oct 7th....
I need to drop the pan on mine and do the same since the stealership says no damn filter.. That or just have it done all over again by an outside shop like you.. Probably what I should have done in the first place
Definitely keep us posted
Mine was just flushed at 65K and I drive the hell out of it (about 600 +/- miles a week) so if ours where going to take a dump Ill probably be the first
I just need a filter change/pan cleaning still..

I've been noticing that outside shops are getting much better at these "newer age" vehicles. It's because of the young guns working at them... but I've noticed that a lot of shops around here have similar tools Ford and a lot of other manufacturers have.
Hope it works out for you.

Don't let the dealerships tell yall there is no filter. That's a bunch of crap. I've changed mine a few times now and there is definitely a filter media in the filter casing. I'm not into the flush thing either as I had a Honda Accord that took a dump right after a flush. I bought a fluid pump from autozone(the one with the orange tubing) and every other oil change I run the hose down the dipstick tube into the pan and suck out real quick about 3 quarts and replace with new. B/n doing this and changing the filter every 30-50k, I'll be willing to bet I get just as good or better tranny life as compared to the flush thing. Also if Ford does the BG flush they are putting a shift softening solution in the tranny fluid after the flush that is known to make the seals leak.
I had the filter changed at 30,000 and a flush at 60,000. Both at the dealer. They charged $80 for the filter change and $130 for the flush. They use a flush kit that has some chemical cleaner in it.
