Headliner removal in a supercrew

Can the headliner be removed without taking out the back window? I got some black harley visors with homelink and a harley overhead console so I want to have the headliner gone in black.

Out the front doors? I thought that you had to remove the windshield to get these supercrew headliners out.

How?

Exactly how does it come out the front passangers door if you don't mind explaining. That is the only thing holding me back from opening the tool box tomorrow morning!

Thanks~DP

I've been wondering this myself! I can't seem to find anyone with a SuperCrew 04-08 that has done it without removing a window. There are a few small coffee stains from the previous owner on mine and I've covered most of my prior cars headliners in suede and would like to do the same on this one

i know its gotta be difficult and i would guess that taking the seats out might make it easier. the backglass is bolted in, so if ya end up having to take it out its easy to do. all ya need is some round butyl tape to put it back in.

I would take it out the back window, much easier to take out and replace.

+1 for Scabs

From what I recall you can't take it out the back since the back window is considerably narrower than the headliner. This was from a thread a few years back that we talked about it. The guy had to take it out his windshield. Search may turn it up but it would be around late 05.

It will come out through the right front door. It looks scary as all hell (you have to bend it...a lot...), and I've screwed one up before, but they will come out without removing the windshield. I can't really recommend doing it that way though, it's just too easy to really screw your headliner up doing that.

Call around to some upholstery shops and see what they say. My local upholstery guy showed me how to do them without removing the windshield or the back window, and he's very good at it. Me, not so much.

I too have thought of doing the headliner, in black of course. I had the idea to just remove all the seats, drop it down and try to flip it over and just recover it in the truck. Would it work, no clue? I never tried it, maybe someone here can and see if it would work. It would be a VERY tight work space for sure.. I was just going to use spray adhesive and some sort of black fabric.

I tried to do it when I was doing my clearance light install

a major PITA, and i wasn't brave enough to bend it like Quintin mentioned.

Patman and I did my 05 screw 2 years ago in black suede. Quintin is right we removed mine from the passengers seat and you DO have to bend it a bit to get it out. You are going to have to take off your a/b/c pillars, your visors, the silver overhead rails, and my least favorite the two circular push in screws at the top of your headliner in the back seat. It was an even bigger pain in the **** to put it back in. Be careful and go slow and do little sections at a time. There's no reason to hurry through it or your end result will turn out with places that aren't flush. We used some spray on high heat adheasive from vato zone. It worked well, no sign of peeling whatsoever over the past 2 years. I would get atleast 2 cans. A little will go a long way. If you spray too much it will bleed though the fabric and become hard. (thats what she said) If you have the money I would take it somewhere to get done. It was pretty much a full day project from start to finish. Soon after I found a place here in dallas that would do it for 200 bucks including the fabric. Hell it's worth it to me, I'm actually considering having them recover my current one. Best of luck to ya.
