limited slip question

hi guys, I was wondering if you could help me out.My dad has a 2008 ford f-150 supercab xlt 4x4 with a 5.4. We have a small compact backhoe and we live on a dirt road and when he tries to pull the tractor up the hills or back it up in the drive way he's always spinning. He wants to put a locker or maybe somehow get a limited slip for it. Ford dealer says he has to buy a whole new bigger rearend and he also has to do it to the front also.Is this true? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

No, the dealer is full of BS. Your pops has the 5.4 in his truck so he already has the 9.75" rear end. You can get a detroit true trac for about 5 bills and have it installed and he will have LS.

You can also get a factory LS which uses clutch packs for about 3.5 bills, or the eaton LS (same design as the ford unit but better quality) for 5.5 bills or the auburn unit which uses a cone design for 5.5 bills.
