Clearance Lights on TT Mirrors/ Now with How To p.3

i have been doing alot of research on adding clearance lights to my TT mirrors. i have some close calls with ppl getting a lil too close and i like the look also. i looked at the F250 lights, but that are too big to fit inbetween the arms. also, the mirrors dont come all the way apart, so it would be a PITA to get them in.

i found these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

and after further research in the disassembly of the mirror, i can remove the skull cap and make a cutout of the light and mount it to the mirror and then add the skull cap back on, so it will look flush with the mirror.

i really wanted to add front turn signals also, but i dont think there is room for 2 lights and i dont know how to wire the one light to do both options.

i also plan on adding the roof clearance lights also following Tylus's write up. i think this will really set off my truck and make it the mean towing machine that it is!!

what do you think???

I think those were the turn signal lights someone modded with LED strip lights. There was also a post a few months back where someone added puddle lights to their stock mirrors.

awesome place to buy pre-wired LED's. I started this mod on my FX4, but traded her in before finishing it. Not that hard to do actually. I had everything wired in and it all worked. Last thing to do was the actual drill work.

Josiah did it also, but the pictures are dead. Maybe PM Josiah and see if he can upload some pics

ok, i see where i can possibly go with these. i can wire 3 as a clearance light and 3 as a turn signal in 2 rows up and down and each row will be each, if you know what i mean. but i want some type of lens over them. i would love the F250 look, but will settle for some type that looks good.

see where im going?

Well if you can cut and heat form some thin lexan you might get what you want. I've got a spare set of OEM heated mirrors in the garage I planned on doing just the signals on. But if you make this happen that would be friggen awesome.

do they make colored lexan? would be awesome and doable if i can find some amber lexan!!!

the only problem i see is on the TT mirrors, you cant take the complete back off like you can the plain mirrors. so mounting the leds from the back will be near impossible, unless i can remove the power mirror motor......
