stolen gas
I had my gas tank punctured last night. I found out this is how they are stealing gas. Punch a hole in the tank and let the gas run into a jerry can. Bought a used tank and put it in tonight, should have just done insurance claim. It left me stuck on a boat launch. I thought I couldn't pick up the fuel because of the angle, but after adding gas we heard it running on the ground.

Just venting my anger.

You left your truck on the ramp and then some one came alone in the day and did that?
dang that sucks. i had to drop my tank to change out the fuel pump a while back and it was a pain in the a** trying to get a syphon hose in the tank to drain it. im sure thats why they just jabbed a hole in it.

Pretty ballsy. If that was a problem around here I'd be mounting a steel plate under the tank. Been a few times I thought about making a shield for the filler line that's exposed in the wheel well.
Gas tank is made out of composite plastic.
I would be pissed if that happen to me.

Unless they make plastic tanks that spark, I don't think you'll have to worry too much about it. You do realize that liquid gasoline won't explode or burn, it's only the fumes mixed with the right amount of air that burns. A tanker truck burns furiously when it gets going because as it gets hotter, it's generating more and more fumes off the liquid. When they use foam to put out a fuel fire, all they're doing is cutting off the oxygen that is necessary for combustion.
