Overhead Gun Rack -Ideas, Opinions, etc.-

I am considering installing an overhead gun rack in the cab of my 05 supercrew. The potential dilemma is that I would rather not drill if possible.

One of the ideas I head was fabricating my own rack that would utilize the overhead rail system; however, I have no idea what kind of weight that rail would support and I would rather not find out the hard way.

If anyone has installed or considered installing one, please let me know.

I looked at getting one of the Big Sky Racks. They are great mounts and have great features on them, but I have the overhead rail system and it just didnt fit right. If you could fab something to fit with the rails it would be nice.

seeing that brought back memories of the ol racks in the back window in my dad's old f150, and wacking my head on the hooks going into camp

you could probably rig the rack to face front to back so it wil use the rail system as the mount

Yeah if you get a system rigged up with the overhead rail mounts that would be great. I looked at the ones you had from fleet mount but im not willing to spend $500 for a gun mount.

i got a 2000 supercab. in the rear theres on each side a hook off the ceiling. i think its like a clothes hanger hook. anyways i took a 1"x1" piece of angle with holes in each end and wire tied it to these hangers. so i now have a bar across my rear ceiling a couple of inches off the roof. then through the holes in the center put bolts through out each side to serve as holding mean to hold my rifles/fishing poles. basically a nig *** rigged fishinpole/gun rack. works amazingly great, super cheap, and can be removed without any harm at all to the truck to sell it.

My gun rack attaches to the back of the drivers seat and the passengers seat. It holds 2 shotguns and a rifle and is removable for when its not hunting season.

Obviously I'm a little late to this thread... but FYI there is a no holes drilled overhead rack/lock that works with the F-150. Not cheap, but very nice.

I believe you will find that the OP posted a link to this gun rack in his original post.

Love their ballistic ticket board.

I always wanted a bulletproof clipboard.
