Radio staying on
Radio staying on
Hey all, I am having a problem with my 2004 Lariat. When I shut it off the radio keeps playing for about 10 minutes. With winter coming I'm worried about draining the battery down. I have tried shutting it down and opening the passenger side door but it still stays on so I don't think it is the door switch. Thx in advance
There is a radio delay feature on our trucks which sounds like it's malfunctioning.
Grab another one off of eBay. Here's one right here:

Make sure this matches your pinout and whether or not you have a sub.

....huh?
Yeah I get out but the radio keeps playing! It used to shut off as soon as I opened the door. Now I close the door and there is power going to the radio for about 10 minutes......

Do you by chance have efans on your vehicle? And if so, are they wired into the fuse box on the passengers side?

Another member on here mentioned that if you open the other doors up the radio stays on. But if you're exiting the driver door and it's still on it's most like the radio as the unit receives a signal from the door lights.
Nothing has been wired into the fuse box. it is stock
I'm thinking of unplugging the battery tomorrow and seeing if I leave it unplugged for an hour if it will reset something. Any thoughts?
okay, i did some more research in the electrical forum and found the cause. I took apart the sill (thats what I'll call it!) and where a bunch of wires goes down the side there was one that was all corroded. I spliced in a new wire and everything works fine. Of note in this trough where the wires run it was full of water! There is a rubber drain plug at the back of the trough and I pulled it out and dried up all the water. Put shrink wrap on the new connections and wrapped it really good with electrical tape. The original splice was covered in something like hockey tape! It was the joint where 2 purple wires go together with 1 purple wire. I took some pic's but I don't think I can upload them yet......Tried it out and everything works fine now
