Engine Blown!

Found out today that the engine in my 06 is shot with only 82k miles. The dealership it was towed to quoted me $7285 for a new one and $4295 for a used one with 65k miles. Anyone had to have a new one put in? If so how much did you pay to have it done?

I'd shop that price with other automotive shops. Visit some junk yards and look at lower mileage engines.

Is the block still usable or did it detonate?

Thanks for all the replies. I'm trying to find one at a junkyard and get it done by an independant but the problem is the truck broke down 180 miles from home so I don't know any local shops to do it.

Anyone know of someone close to Tryon, NC?

I'm waiting for that day when my motor needs "attention". Muhahahahaha...

No sense in pulling the motor just yet. I like to get my money out of it first.

Any ideas how much it would be to have it shipped? Are there taxes involved in shipping out of Canada?

Their are a good amount of junk yards that will sell you a motor for a great price and most will even install them.

Good point....I will check it out if you want and see if he will ship. I think there would be some taxes, I know there is when I order stuff from the US.
