He had them posted on a local mustang club forum....I pm'd him to see if they are 2v or 3v. Don't forget that is $750 Canadian...that would be like $690-$700 US dollars. I will let you know if I hear back from him.

I know what you mean. I found a heck of a deal on this bad boy ($14K with freight):

http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...KeyField=10261

But the misses told me she doesn't want the engine sitting in the garage (or the living room for that matter) next to the other 2 Mustang motors, so I must wait until this one grenades first.

Go online and go to the website "Pick-a-part". They're big down here in the south and pretty good from what I here.

Would you want a junk yard putting a motor in for you? I DON'T think so!

what kind of crap is this dealership smoking?

A junker motor should run you about $2,500 max. I've seen them go on eBay for even less with shipping included.

Add about $500-700 for a shop to do the labor. These motors are extremely easy to work on. It just looks complicated.

$8k for a new motor...yeah right

for seven thousand dollars it better be a 6.2 forged stroker bottom end with good cams and ported heads, larger injectors and the works

Or a supercharger. That would work too.

If I was in your shoes I would just buy a MMR 5.4 Street mod short block and have your heads freshened up and bolt it all back together! maybe 4000.00 for a complete built engine.

Times have changed. My junk yard builds rock crawlers, puts 351w's into Jeeps & rangers, gears swaps daily, installs lift kits and is just pretty dam awesome!

They even put a built bottom end into my buddys 03 cobra that put down over 600 at the wheels. I honestly trust guys like these more that tear motors down everyday vs a tech at ford who once or twice a month tears into a motor while reading his book.

I'm not talking about a pick and pull type place. That would be a joke.

You are only 180 miles from home - borrow a truck from a pal and rent a trailer and haul her home, or have it hauled home (figure about a buck to a buck fifty a mile) so you can spend some quality time looking for someone that isn't trying to rake you over the coals.

Sounds like the locals you are dealing with are seeing $$$ in you. Get her home and do it right. You should be able to have the entire job done for 4k or under including the tow/haul home, and with a used motor with a lot less miles.

Good luck, keep us posted
