Do the factory timing chains have alignment dots?
Do the factory timing chains have alignment dots?
I searched but nothing came up. I am going to swap out both of my phasers and chain tensioners. Do the original timing chains have the alignment dots on them or should I but new chains? 90,000 on the odomoeter.
Thanks
Thanks

..........and yes, the chains and sprockets have alignment marks on them.
chain marks
I rebuilt my 99 5.4 at 132,000 and still had over 1/2 of the tensionr left even the DEALER said not to replace them!!!
There are marks (shiny links) discribed in the manual... x2 get a manual, and make sure it's correct...it's a close tollarance motor...if it's not right you'll bend something!!
the tensioners are oil fed and pressurized...once you get them off and get the rachets reset, then keep them that way till you are sure everything is alligned.

thanks. I have a manual at my house but I am at the beach so couldn't research it.
No problem for me to do this job, I've built many engines, race and street. Just ordering a few replacement parts, in the process of removing my cam phasers. everything is marked but for removal but I didn't do the TDC method so just wondering if there where dots. Thankfully I have another car to drive so no hurry. Thanks
