BMW moon lighting in F150 ?

So I have been thinking about mounting a couple LED's in my overhead map light bezel... TO get the effect of moon lighting like that in a BMW...

Anyone done this or have any ideas as to how it can be done?? NEATLY...

My thought was to drill a reverse counter sunk hole in the back of the bezel for the LED's to sit in then a smaller hole through the faced of the bezel to direct the light. Also to avoid straight on almost ponter light the LED would give off Thought I could scuff them slightly with fine sand paper...

The problem I found mounting them this way is that theres so much crap in that little bezel to try and work around...

What do you think??

Before I get happy with a drill I wanted to get some opnions.

i have been debating this too !!!! kinda like a soft light pointing toward the center console !!

just bore a hole small enough to snug a 3 or 5mm led and hardwire it or to a switch

might have to anchor the led in with a lil dab of super glue but itll work

bout to make something happen this week... maybe thurs or fri

also thinking of mirror lights like of the new 350s on the tips for the mirrors .. like 3 amber running lights if you know waht i mean

Yeah, not all of us are pretty boys and have been in a BMW before. Well I take that back, I tried to sit in a 325 once but really wanted to drive it because the owner offered. Well I might have been able to squeeze in but my foot covered the entire gas peddle and some of the brake. There was no way I could ever drive it safely or enjoyable. That was my last experience with a BMW. So mood lighting? Is it like the ambient lighting in the newer Fords?

My MDX has two blue LEDs near the map lights, right in front of the sunroof and a couple more near the floor on each side of the center console, so I've definitely thought about it before too. I bet you could pretty easily wire them into the dash lights since you'd want the LEDs to turn on with them. I've thought about somehow mounting them inside the lens for the map lights so you don't see them when they're turned off. I'm not sure how that would affect the light disbursement, though. That might save you from drilling holes, though.

I thought about doing it that way also. But the problem I thought would be just that. The light would reflect inside the lens housing rather then being directed downward towards the console...
