Redtop #4 on my 04 F-150

Picking it up this evening

Why are these batteries such pieces of sh*t? 8 years ago they used to be great, now I go through about 1 year.

They used to be great batteries. Seems like since 04 though the quality has went way way down hill. I had 2-3 that lasted nearly 6 years after many years of hard abuse.

Are you sure you dont have a draw some where? Im a firm believer that 95% of the stuff made today sucks because companys are just cutting corners on materials to build product.

I tell people don't get the red top but does anyone listen..noooo.

I killed 3 reds in like a 6 months, for a standard run of the mill vehicle they may work good but soon as you drain them dead they never right again. Our trucks do so much better with the yellow tops. I've killed my yellow top dead several times and it still works just fine and recharges fast. So let these little guys remind you red= yellow =

Yeah I'm sure. I've just had no luck with them in the past few years.

I know for some reason, Vipers EAT Optima's. I've had friends with them in their vipers and they only last 3-6 months. We have all pretty much switched to interstate batteries, and I might just do that for my 04 to see how that battery last.

I bought a yellow top in '96. After two vehicles, about 12 complete drains and recharges, and sitting on a shelf for about 6 months in between vehicles, it finally died last year.

My old red tops were that way. These new ones are junk.

If I remember correctly, about 5-6 years back the company that developed the Optima sold the rights to Exide. The quality has gone downhill ever since.

I don't buy OPTIMA anymore, they're garbage......years ago they were good, but no more!........mine died last year after 15 months..........
SEARS DIEHARD is also garbage.....

after 50 years of buying batteries the ONLY one I prefer is INTERSTATE......
and I'm sure somebody will chime in that they are garbage, also, but I've gotten BETTER service from INTERSTATE than any other battery on the market.

By the way, 99% of the batteries in the US are built by 3 companies, just DOZENS of different brand names.

I don't know, every Diehard I've owned gave 7-8 years of reliable service. I live in a climate that sees temperature extremes ranging from +35C in the summer to -35C in the winter.:santa:

I'm at the other extreme in SOUTH FLORIDA with HEAT at 98* and humidity between 85% & 100% year round........
I've a had a few good DIEHARDS but they were always replaced under SEARS warranty......

I just had to replace my OEM Motorcraft battery. I was considering an Optima, but for some reason my better judgement felt the Napa 800cca battery would be a better choice, so far, i'm very glad i went with it. Its an excellent battery, even my starter sounds healthier now.

I've heard Interstate makes good batteries. If mine ever act up I will definitely go that direction even if it's just based on that companies ethics. The owner is really good guy and does tons for the community.
