Fuse Question - Mini Rant

Hello,

First post and not off to a good start.

A week ago the wife and I drove thru a Ford dealer, window shopping really.

Ended up leaving with a "Certified" 2006 F150 STX Screw 4x4 with 4.6. 40,000 miles.

On the way home heard a noise stopping at a light. What was that? Sounded like it came from the drivers front. Light turned green, no noise. Maybe just my imagination. Nope twice more thru the week and each time significantly worse.

Join a couple of forums and find out about the IWE and hub problem. Also learn I have the "old" IWE.

Yesterday I make an appointment with the dealer. Still trying to be optimistic about my puchase.

Last night I drove the truck about 50 yards and the horn goes off. And does not quit going off. 10 o'clock at night and the neighbors are not impressed. Turn around and race back to my garage all the time horn blaring like I'm under a nuclear attack.

I had to pull of the negative cable.

So afterwards I do a CarFax and find that the hubs were just replaced about 7,000 miles ago.

Since my truck did not come with an owners manual to help me find the fuse box location I get back on the forums to learn it's whereabouts. Cool, passenger kick panel. Go and pull off the cover only to learn the fuses are not labeled.

So.......can someone please tell me which fuse to pull so the horn will stop and I can driver it to the dealer?

First Ford purchase and frankly so far I'm not too pleased with the relationship.

Anyway, thanks for letting me vent. Any help with the proper fuse to pull would be greatly appreciated.

Scott

Sorry to here that sounds like the dealer is ripping you off.

about the fuse its #26 it should be a 20 amp mini fuse

on the right side the side closest to the seat fifth fuse down

it should be just to the right and one spot above a relay hope this helps

Mr Goat (nice name!)
WELCOME to the Club. You have a good truck, I've never heard of an F150 "Lemon".....
it didn't get to be the #1 selling vehicle in the world by causing problems........
having said that, it's USED.......no big deal, get the few bugs worked out and you'll learn to enjoy this truck........
Just for your own "edification" I bought my '04 new, now have 98,000 miles and the ONLY issue is the rear-end was replaced last month under the 3rd party extended warranty.......lucky me, just in time (before expiration).
ENJOY!

I say get within a few blocks of the dealer and put the fuse back in so they see the issue right away, lol. Like complaining in the ER, but using ketchup to advance the responsiveness of the techs to look at it. Sorry for your luck so far, hopefully they will make it right.

LOL, I hadn't thought of that.

To be fair, I can't really be upset with dealer yet as they've only just now recieved the truck.

My introduction to the service department did not start out well as they quoted me a 150.00. I informed them firmly that I would not be paying that amount since part of purchase deal was bumper to bumper coverage for 90 days or 3000 miles with a 100 deductible by the dealer and that I had purchased the extended warranty.

We will see how it goes.

Right now I'm giving the benefit of the doubt.

Thanks again Gentlemen, Scott

Well Gentlemen, to wrap up this thread, I must say I am pleasantly surprised by the dealer.

They replaced a Module for the Horn/Air bag issue.

They also replaced the IWE valve (the covered one), the Actuator, and the Hub for free. No charge. They even waived the 100 deductible.

I hope this is how they do business.

I also hope to not ever hear the grinding noise again.

Thanks to all, Scott

Wow, very refreshing to see a dealership not act like the typical stealership.
