Chevy

Pulling alot of this off the top of my head from 'a long' time ago so take it with a grain of salt (used to be a Chevy guy cause my cousin was married to Chevy dealer and got good deals on them).

Truck block, and I don't think some car block parts will fit due to higher deck heights etc. Probably an open differential if it's a 4x2. Metal box floors were prone to rusting in the corners. Truck tranny I think is not the same as the car, again it would need to be checked out. I think the cabs were prone to rust near the rocker panels through the back of the cab. I'd really look over anything like aftermarket power steering or brakes to insure it's done properly.

I'm sure not trying to talk you out of it, just make sure you know what you're getting, if it's what you want then go for it. I don't know if I'd rely 100% on it till you know it's dependability.

My Uncle had one very similar to that one so I've driven it many a time in those days. It was a good truck, though it was a work truck.

By the way, your comment about this model handling like a race car, not unless it's already been extensively modified. They were built as work trucks in that timeframe and handled accordingly.

Good luck whatever you decide to do.

Paul

well i looked over the truck today.

great looking interior/exterior. however there is rust on frame, arms, axle, basically the entire undercarriage.

i will keep my eyes open though.

i am going to pick one up already modified and show it, play with it. id say it would be a pretty mature hobby?

lot safer than what i do now...

rust or surface rust on the frame? if its just surface rust its not big deal. bring a screw driver and poke at it, if its soft not good, if its hard then no worries.
