Not to sound like a dumba$$, but is the injector problem only on the 05 model year? I've got an 06 5.4 and just want to know if I should be watching for it.

There is no tsb to my understanding on it. Ford sent a letter to all those affected extending the warrant to something like 12 years or 120K mile to cover all injector related failures.

I would definitely keep it in mind. Who knows when Ford used the last of the problem injectors, some may have gotten into the 2006 models.

Not everyone that is covered by the extended warranty received the letter. I never got one, but checked with the service guy at my dealer and my truck is covered.

There is no tsb. 07M08 only covers when an 05 5.4 liter fuel injector fails and covers any possible engine casualties that may have been created by the injector failure.

It's only covered on '05 model year trucks, but I've seen a handful of early build 2006 model year trucks have problems as well.

ok, so finally a month later, ford denies converage because it didn't throw the right codes and it was not injector related. Turns out there was no oil in the top end of the motor. The top bearings were all toast, but bottom bearings and rods were fine. Strange note that there was a circlular wearing on the oil pump. IDK what thats about. Inspector from warranty company was called and inspected today. Service manager said that the first thing the inspector noticed was "dust" in the motor. Not off to a good start, but I have every single maintence recent.

So if the claim is denied initially, the only choice i know of is to lawyer up. Then i will sue for a new motor, my lawyer fees, etc. I hope it doesn't come to this.

Since there ain't no bearings in the cylinder heads or top end of the engine (the cams ride on machined surfaces directly on the cylinder heads), I'd be kinda leery of their diagnosis.

Call Ford Customer Assistance.

Not sounding good so far. Btw what type of oil filter have you been using? I'm not sure if it true but I've heard that the cheap filters have a potential to clog the oil passage way to the top of the engine. Also if you were correct with your original statement of gas in the oil I don't equate that to top of the engine being starved of oil.

I would call the Ford Customer Assistance and possibly see if there is trust worthy independent mechanic that will be willing to take a look at it too.

That sucks, I feel that having an 05 F150 its inevidable that I will be plaqued with the Injector or tranny problems. Also I cant believe after an injector failer they would put the remaining 7 crap injectors back into the new motor.

I knock on wood and hope I wont have this problem...but if I do Ford will be paying for it...or my truck will be pushed into their showroom window at the nearest dealership so they can have their clunker back
