Bad experience with Hella Blackout Headlights.....

Holy $#!+ !
I can't believe it ! The guy from Auto Anything actually did call me back ! He said he finally got a call back from Hella, and they want to see > photos < of the 'crazing' around the edges of my lights. Photos ? They want photos ? Yea' buddies ! Photos are my specialty ! I'll send them some great ones ! Heck, I can even take macros of just the edge where they are peeling, from 2" away, and fill they freaking monitor with with the defective part ...and razor sharp too.
Now, this still doesn't mean they are going to give me new ones.... In fact, if if they say they will, I'll believe it when I have the new ones in my hands.
But it's pretty darn nice to at least be given an ear, over the situation.
Will keep you guys updated.
Hey Animated, I wouldn't bother with sealing them, unless they were already leaking. The one of mine that didn't leak, still doesn't 1 year later.
Peace,
Fish
BTW, somebody mentioned this being normal, for lights that stay out in the weather.....
Uhhhh.... maybe 'hazing' (which can be buffed out) but not this 'crazing' peeling from the edges thing. My Hyundai lights have sat out in the weather for 3 years, and they might need a little buffing.... but they have zero 'crazing'. I think a person would need to see crazing, to know what it does to these lights.

I JUST WANT TO CLARIFY ONE THING
Fish is speaking about the Hella Headlights. This has nothing to do with the taillights and 3rd brake light. I own the Hella taillights and 3rd brake light and I've never had an issue or heard of anyone with an issue. I want to clarify this up b4 some members get scared and think that HELLA is garbage. I think they make the best aftermarket taillight for the 04-08 body.

I didn't read all the replies, but Hella is very aware of the problem.
However I have been on "the list" since May 20th to get a new set. I had to send pictures of them fogged up, mounted on the truck. I have called every few weeks and keep hearing that I am "first on the list when the next set comes in".
PM me if/when you get a replacement set.

i had the hellas too, light output was horrible and one side the adjuster had to be aimed almost all the way up to match the other side. one side when switching to high beam spread light in all directions with no distance at all. pure garbage. needless to say i spent the $$ and bought the real harley lights and couldnt be happier.

My front left started leaking and fogged up about 8 months after installing, and now my front right has the outer layer of clear skin peeling off. Guess I'm not the only one... And saying "well maybe they're outside too much" is just a stupid cop-out. If they're going to charge you $200 for something they get made in China for 80 cents, the damn things should at least be as good as OEM

Alright I called AGAIN last week and the guy said "Oh yeah, I have the new shipment in... We'll send them out."
They showed up today. They don't look to be sealed much better but time will tell.

The person I talked with was Casey Callaway.
I had to email him pictures of the fogged lights installed on the truck. If these new ones leak I have to break the old ones and send pictures of the broken up headlights as proof that I didn't sell them or whatever.

I did some Google searching on headlight repair. Grant it we shouldn't be needing to do this for at least 5 years. But anyways common repair is wet sand and buff. Here's a link to a ford focus forum that goes into detail.
