"New" Leveling kit...

Ok, I had a BDS 2" leveling kit with 315/70/17's. I was real happy with it, but I did rub a little, esspecially on bumps while in a turn. I took it out to Pismo once, and ran around Camp Pendleton with it. But I just couldnt get over the fact that I rubbed a little, even after triming as much as I was willing too.

So, I started scanning around on Craigslist and found an off road shop here locally that was trying to get rid of a set of Donahoe Racing Coilovers that they had on display for the last year or so. Since they were asking half price for them, and they were practically brand new, I went for it.

Here are some pictures...

This is what it looked like with the BDS Leveling Kit on it...

This is what it looks like with the DR Coilovers on it, set to 2 1/4"...

I have to tell ya, these are a MILLION times better than the leveling kit! First off, no more rubbing, with 34.6" tires! Even over bumps while in a full turn, no rubbing.

Second of all, they ride like a Caddy!! On pavement ride is so much better! Off road riding is better too, by about 300%!!! Granted, they will not perform like a long travel, but going through some really chopped up dry mud holes at 45, the truck didnt even shimmy! Smooth! Just to check it, I drove through the chopped up mud hole again with a drink in my hand (it was coke!), and didnt spill a drop!

Lastly, and this might be the kicker, the install was x10 easier than the leveling kit. Im not saying that the leveling kit was hard or anything, cause it wasn't. But this litterally took me about 15 minutes a side, while relaxing and concentrating more on drinking my beer than installing the kit...

All and all, I am extreamely happy with my choice. Any of you looking at leveling out your truck, look into this option when making your choice. Donahoe Racing declared bankrupcy, and was bought out by Icon, but Icon kept making this same set of coilovers with their name on them. There are also other manufactures that make this type of coil over, like Camburg, who gets their shock bodies from Sway-away. It may cost more, but IMO, it is the better option, especially if you are going to do any real offroading in the truck.

Thoughts?

Looks good, I have a 2.5" leveling kit, due to some angles and what not thinking of going to the 2" do you still have yours?

Very nice. I've looked at the Icon/Camburg kits and would love to have it but I would never really use it enough to be worth the grand for it.

Yeah, the real score was getting it for half price. Keep your eyes out for these types of deals....
