Question: In the instructions for posting an ad in the Classifieds section of this site, it says, "Within your ad, please post a description, asking price, and method to contact you (either via PM, email, and/or telephone)."

What does PM mean/stand for?

Thanks

a friend of mine just bought his truck from driver's world (carmax) for 18.5. It's an 04 FX4 CC with 65K on it.

Depends on miles, etc. but if miles at 50K or so $16K is good asking price. I have an 05 Screw XLT and had it in CL for $15.9 before I regained sanity. Had people offering me $15.5K over the phone based on pics. Luckily I work so much I couldn;t get a time to be home before dark so I gave up and told my 3 buyers I had changed my mind. lol.

So yes. $15.5 is fair for a year old, FX4.

I posted it on Craigslist Sunday night. So far between that and the posting on this site's Classifieds (https://www.f150online.com/forums/tr...-two-tone.html) I've gotten one half-hearted offer from the Craigslist ad; an offer to trade me a Jeep, a Durango and some cash. Before you ask, I didn't even entertain it to find out the years and conditions of the vehicles or how much cash was involved.

Anyone ever used Freebo.com? (Free By Owner)

http://www.freebo.com/go/home.jsp?aff=pps

I never heard of it until last night. It's a "safer" site to sell used cars on and is part of cars.com.

put your maintenance history in your for sale posting. What fluids/filters you used, etc. Really helps the buyer know it was maintained.

Just keep it on craigslist. Put your price at FIRM, so you don't waste time.

UPDATE: I have a guy coming out to look at the truck on Thursday. He's only about 25 minutes away. He asked me a bunch of questions and if my price was negotiable. I hadn't yet changed my listing to say "Firm", as suggested, so I didn't feel right slipping it in there after he had already read it and inquired. I was sort of non-commital with my answer (because I'm a pu**y). I said, "Well I'm pretty much at the price I'd like to be, and one that I think is fair to both parties. But come and take a look at it and see what you think and we'll see..." He didn't scoff at that answer and is still coming. So now how do I respond when he asks about negotiating a price again on Thursday? Do I say $16,500 is my price or do I negotiate? I do not have to sell, but would like to.

He sent me his home phone number, so I Googled it and got his full name and address to ensure he's not a typical Craigslist scammer. He doesn't sound like an F-150 "Enthusiast"; more like an older guy looking for a truck. I hope he doesn't drive up in a jalopee. I'd hate for the F-150 to turn into cr@p.

If I was in the market, I'd be taking it off of your hands, same color as mine! Nice truck, you won't have any problem selling it! However you will regret it!

Do you think I'm underpriced @ $16,500? I'm in line with NADA and KBB.

No, you're not.

Here's what I would tell him in your situation. Since you don't HAVE to sell the truck. If he asks what your bottom dollar is say $16k. If he scoffs at it, ask him how long he's looked for used trucks. If not long, tell him to go look for a couple days or so. Then tell him he'll more than likely be back to buy yours. If he has been looking for awhile it's because he's kicking tires trying to get the best possible deal he can. Problem is, used truck prices are way up right now. They are around here anyway. There's always deals out there to be found if you look long enough.

It's a great looking truck, one owner, etc., but many people have a hard time paying KBB or NADA prices. Most people want to brag about the deal they got or they are financing it to the max and the bank won't loan on that amount. Personally, I'm not that way. If it's the vehicle I want and I can afford, I buy it. Below KBB or NADA or not.

I wouldn't care if the pulled up on a bicycle, walked, took a taxi or pushed their car. I'd sell to anyone as long as the funds cleared! You're selling it. That means you have no use for it anymore. Why should you care where it goes? It's not a collectors item.

Agreed. If you are selling it, you have to try not to care. I feel your pain, and could never sell my truck (not planning on it anyways). It has a lot of memories I bet and you are seeing something you clearly cared for basically vanish after a check. Will he take care of it? Is he going to beat on it? Just like Mxracer said, you decided to sell, so you'll have to accept it, despite how hard that may be. Best of luck buddy. I hope he buys it from you and takes care of it if he does.

Good advice mxracer49! Thanks.

And you guys are right. Once I sell, what happens to it shouldn't matter anymore. I'm just a person who believes in taking care of my stuff and hate to see something that I put time and effort into to keeping nice, get ruined.

Occasionally I ride by my old house that I sold in September to see what the new owners have done to it. They've kept it up and done a lot of improvements, so I'm happy about that. It's just a nice feeling to know your efforts didn't go to waste.

But it's not even just about my stuff though. It's general carelessness and laziness that bothers me. My cousin has a truck (Dodge Ram). He bought it new and just started beating the thing for no reason. Dents, scrapes, disgustingly dirty... And he doesn't even use it as a work truck. His quote to me is, "It's a tool, not a truck." I think the tool is sitting behind the steering wheel.

Yeah. I hear ya. It gets agrivating seeing that. I cringe when I see stuff like that. Before I got my truck, I test drove just for fun this absolutley spotless 2007 F-150 Greenwith Arizona Beiege Supercrew Lariat 5.4 6.5' bed 4wd 20" wheels. Totally loaded. It was from a NJ Auction and only had 23k on it. The dealer, Roman Ford in Foxboro, MA was asking nealry 30k way overpriced INO, but unbelievably clean. The bed in my truck is nearly spotless and the one in that truck looked like it wasn't even touched. Wow! The truck sat for a few months and then two weeks ago I think I saw it. There is no other one around and it had the Rodman ford logo on the bumper
The poor truck was filthy and did not look like it was being taken care of. What a shame. It hurts to see that.

I tried selling my old truck on eBay. It was a 2008 GMC Canyon reg cab 4x4. I really didn't have much luck. The one dude that bid on it turned out to be a total weirdo. He bid on it and won it for $13,880. He then asked me to drive it from where I live (Vermont) to Pennsylvania. I told him no way. He then asked me to meet him half way. I said no and if he really wanted the truck he needed to come get it. He knew the location prior to bidding. He than harassed me for about a month or two after. I laughed about it but it was just annoying. He would text and email me all the time saying "I hope you get *******ed over, god knows what you have done, you'll get yours."

The whole situation was crazy. He bid, wouldnt come get it and then annoyed the hell out of me.

So, I listed it again. He big on it another time! I told him I was blocking his eBay account and to stop being annoying.

Not that this will happen to you, but this was my only experience selling a vehicle on eBay. I might add, people on eBay are usually looking for crazy deals. might not be the best idea if you want top dollar. Post it all over craigslist and autotrader and just wait till you get the right buyer.

The truck ended up selling on autotrader. Got $14,000.00 cash for it and i got my F150. The end.

I just had a guy come look at the truck. No worries on him taking care of it. Real nice guy. He reminded me a lot of the actor David Strathairn (Eight Men Out; The Bourne Ultimatum)

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000657/

He was very impressed with how clean and well I kept the truck. And was also impressed with my retention of all the service records.
