Recently i've been noticing my truck at around 40-50 KPH has been a complete big. I went to pass a slow moving dumptruck today and the truck didnt seem to want to gear down. and the other day I went to pass a car going about 70 KPH and the same thing. Truck is an 04 f150 with a k&N intake and straight pipe exhaust. And i'm to broke for a tuner right now

I have a K/N drop in and have never had an issue with dirt, or fouling the MAF. I do run PHP custom tunes, so I know I am not running lean.
Fuel filters are cheap. I'd start there since it won't hurt to change it anyway.

I mean ... that's what I was thinking. I need to do mine too.

thought you needed a custom tool to get the clips off the fuel filter? and no I have never changed it .... so much I wanna do but so little money. And dont wanna lose my K&N i think it makes the truck run way better
You are risking your entire engine with a CAI on a 2004 and no custom tunes. It's your risk to take.

The tool for a fuel filter is about $10, the filter about $13. You probably need to clean the MAF and a can of spray is about $10

All a personal preference though... bottom line, it's definitely a safe thing to change out the fuel filter and to *not* go with a drop in without a tune. It'll run dangerously lean.
I've actually found that the $10 tool is less helpful than the $2 plastic disconnect tools available at your local Harbor Freight. Just my personal opinion but, I think that the plastic tool is MUCH more friendly to use...
