Alternatives? Need some opinions...

Alright so I plan on purchasing an f150 once I find the right one (one I can afford) and I want to lift it up. What I really want is to put a 6" Fabtech and some 35's on but the way Ive added things up, the price seems a little steep. I figured about $1500 for the lift, then say $800 on tires, and correct me if I'm wrong but another $800-$1000 on the rims? And then once I buy all of that I have to pay to get it installed (unfortunately I'm not as truck savvy as you guys) So the way I see it it would be more than $3000 to install a lift with rims and tires..is that about right?

All this to say, I dont have another 3 grand to drop right now and I'm wondering if there are any alternatives to my "dream" setup. I wont be doing a ton of offroading, it will mainly be my daily driver so it doesnt have to be unbelievably rugged. Ive seen guys with 3" body lifts that look pretty good but Ive heard its alot of work to cover up the gaps and whatnot. ABout how much cash would i have to spend on a body lift and making it look nice. I saw one guy's ( his name was something like IDNC?) that looked really good, how much would it cost me to do something like that?

Thanks for the help guys!

$1000 sounds a little better lol

will a 2.5" leveling kit give me a noticable difference as far as ride height goes? I'd like to get as high up as I can lol

Someone may chime in here... but I think fabtech's 6" goes for about 1800-2500.. you can find a pro comp 6" stage 1 for about 1200-1400. Check the classifieds on this site or your local craigslist or even ebay for tires and rims. I paid 1300 for my 33x12.5x20 tires so you may be a little under budgeted on some things...

Just keep an eye on the classified section here Classifieds... you can usually find a good deal. Just depends what size rim you are wanting to run

I think you can find a body lift for like 300-400.. not sure about install... then get some gap guards to hide it.. those should be fairly cheap... You could always run a 2" leveling kit with some 33's like I have... you can check my gallery to see my setup

800 isn't gonna get you a new set of 35" tires like Shanks said..

Also, if you're going to lift and do tires that big, at some point you need to budget in lower gears too. So that's another $1000 ish.

If you're on a budget and want to keep it simple just stick with a leveling kit and 33s.

That's what I'd do. The Fabtech kit is top notch.

Expand your search and locate one already set up. I found my fully loaded FX4 with a 6" Pro Comp lift, 17" Pro Comp wheels, new Hankook tires and billet grill cheaper than the higher mileage stock KR sitting next to it. Most dealers wan't to get rid of the "lifted gas hogs" pretty quick. Now I can spend all that money on other mods...mmm...Horse power, gears and bumpers. It never ends!

Thats exactly what Ive been trying to do. Id love to find one already lifted and not have to worry about paying to do it myself. Ive had trouble finding many near where I live though. I'm in VA so if any of you Virginians know of any dealers around here that I could get lucky with let me know.

Sardog, if you dont mind sharing how much did you get your truck for? Thats almost the exact setup I'm looking for. And how many miles? Just trying to figure out what kinda price tag I'm gonna have to pay. Thanks!

Alright, lets see if I can explain this... They were asking 28,000 for it, which we all know is high for a 2007. I traded in my 2008 F250 crew cab 4X4 Lariat with only 16,000mi and they supposedly gave me $30,000 for it, black book was only $26,000. So after 15 layers of BS and adding a $3000 warranty I got $1000 cash back. I figgure $21,000 is about what I got it for. I really didn't pay that much attention, cause I won the F250 free and clear and I was getting everything I wanted.
