intake decisions
hey guys im looking into getting an intake upgrade. ive looked at the k and n systems, they are nice but dam there expensive like 300 buks!! if anyone has any good sites to purchase them or knows anyone selling an intake for a 2004 stx, would be great. thanks guys
Does your truck have the 4.6L engine? I think it does since it's an STX. I would look at the S&B intake if I were you. They normally run $269.95 but you can get them for ~$243 right now from autoanything.com. The S&B is a completely enclosed design unlike the open-air filter design that the K&N uses. Personally I think the S&B is one of the best designs out there. I'm about to order mine along with an SCT XCal3 with custom tunes from VMP Tuning.
Basically you have two choices, buy an actual cold air intake , or modify your stock tube to perform the same as the expensive ones.
If you chose to buy a CAI, than you can't go wrong with the S&B. It's cheap, it looks good, and it has an enclosed case unlike the K&N.
If you choose to modify your stock unit, then read up on the Gotts Intake mod. It should cost you a grand total of $15 at the most, and it will fool damn near every dealership.
