When to repace Tie Rods???

When should I replace them? Are there any signs(ie. Vibrations etc.) that would let me know they need to be changed?

When the rubber is torn or opened up, it allows dirt and debris to get in there and it can wear on the ball and socket and create clearance and that would create loose steering and shimmying. Are the tie rod boots torn or leaking grease? Check that out first you'll need to roll the truck to check the parts that are obstructed on the top.

Ok, I've started to get a little shimmy and wierd vibrations out of no where. It just randomly happens and makes me turn down my radio LOL. It drives good, just started to notice that it will vibrate usually once every week or two, nothing regular

How much is it to replace those? I'm an amature mechanic, still learning as I go so should I just take it to the shop or is this a Saturday job?
