should I be afraid of 135k miles?

Im looking at a 05 Ext cab Fx4 near me. Its basically everything I want, except the mileage. now I don't think it should be a problem and the price is right I think, 10,988. the truck looks good, at least in the pics. The say its a one owner truck. He said that it hadn't been through detaining in the pics he sent me, so maybe it was a trade in? would any of you have issues with buying a truck with this many miles on it?? Theses should be good for at least 200K right? is the price within reason?

I would not necessarily be afraid of 135k if I already owned it and put most of those miles on there. I would think those are a lot of miles especially if the truck has not had the plugs changed or the injectors are bad (only an '05 issue). They are gonna have to take a few grand off of that price to get me to look at it, even if it is super clean.

try to find out who had it, give them a call if you can. make sure to carfax it. look underneath it, see if there was ever a lift, or cut wires anywhere or if it had a leveling kit or something. if it's decent i'd pay that much for it

To much money. I agree, take a couple g's off and I'd consider it.

BTW, Carfax is a waste of money if you ask me.

I'm sure if you looked around you could find something better. If you were really set on this truck, I would want to see that the owner had some sort of records of the maintenance done on the truck.

well its at a dealership so I doubt I could contact the previous owner. the truck does look clean in the pics, like I said they says its a one owner truck and it has a clean carfax for whatever thats worth. so you all think even 10900 is too much for it? you think I could find a FX4 with less miles on it for the same price?? what would you offer for it??

Don't be so sure. Before I bought my 06 I was looking at Super Duty's (used). Found a nice on at the dealership, one owner. Dealer actually asked me if I wanted to talk to the guy that owned it, I said sure. They pulled out the guys file and gave him a ring and I got to ask him so questions about the truck.

I would get an oasis done on it, I would trust that before a carfax. As for finding an fx4 with less miles for that price....most likely not.

My FX4 has 145,000 miles. I'm also the only owner It runs strong almost trouble free the issues, had broken plugs and bad coils. Yesterday I change one brake caliper.

Now my truck use 1-2 quarts of oil every 6000 miles.

I change 5w20 MC oil every 6000 miles.

I honestly spect to sold at 250,000 miles or if not sold at least bought a new/newer and let it as a 2nd truck.

If it was traded into them (which it sounds like that is the truth) they should have the original owner's contact info. Also, I would not give more then $8500 for it.

You paying cash? Loan? How much you putting down? If you're not putting anything down you're almost upside down in the truck already. If you lost your job or somehow weren't able to make payments you'll lose money on it. 135K is quite a few miles. I don't know how many miles you drive a year but if you're average that's 15K. So this time next year the truck already has 150K. In two years 165K. And you still owe 9k. My opinion is look around, there's plenty of trucks out there. Or talk them down to $7,500 or $8k.

it be a loan with about 1000 to maybe 1500 down. I do see everyones point, a high mileage vehicle is a high mileage vehicle, once their high mileage they always are.
