I loaded up 2 yards of mulch at a time in my truck, until that last load which was like 3 1/2... it was literally a mountain in my bed.

I got a 8' bed... but wasn't even close to the bump stops.

Loam/dirt weighs about 2500lbs per yard depending on how wet it is. Mulch is more like 500-750lbs per yard.

A few weeks ago I put 1 yard of loam in my 5.5ft screw and it was squatting pretty bad. Luckily I was only about a mile from my house. I then went back to the same place and got 2 yards of mulch. The rear squatted a little but not too bad. 2 yards is the max you'll fit in a 5.5ft bed without mounding too high over the rails. I had the guy dump the first yard in, then I used a rake to move it into the corners of the bed. Then he dumped the second yard on top and I was on my way.

thanks for the inputs.

I went ahead and just got 1 yard of mulch, it filled up about half the bed. I was going to get 2 yards but I decided to get another yard later because I didn't have the time that day to spread 2 yards out.

The truck didn't look loaded down at all with 1 yard of mulch, so I don't think it weighed anything too crazy. When the front end loader came over it dropped a whole bucket in there from about the top of the cab height and the truck squated down like a foot when all that mulch hit at once, haha.

I'm going back this weekend for more mulch.
