regular cab doors?

newbie here, i am learning about f-150's

from what i can tell: ford made the regular cabs with reverse-facing doors for a few years, but then stopped

what years they were available?

i am thinking it started in 2002 but then stopped with the 2008's?

thanks for any feedback, great site

I love those little doors on my regular cab. Makes that space behind the seat much more useful.

Same here!

Any idea why they dropped them in the 09's?

That was one of the biggest selling points for me, so i can't imagine why they'd get rid of them...

X2. its nice to have some space behind the seat in a reg cab. can actually fit a sub back there without loosing any leg room.

I think the reason why they dropped those little doors on the reg. cab was cost reduction. The big doors were not universal size. The reg cab door and screw doors were the same size, but the scab door was bigger. And then you have 2 different sizes for the little door, one for the reg cab and one for the scab. Now I believe all the big door sizes are the same and they only have one little door for the scab. So they have to make less parts keeping the cost of the truck down. I understand the reasoning, but didn't like to see it go.

oh, well that makes since i guess...
I'm just happy with what I have.

but what I didn't know is that my doors were the same as the SCrew...
I wanted to upgrade my door panels to power locks/windows and in black.
Parts should be a lot easier to find.

Thanks!

04-08 and 09 regular cabs are the same size regardless of how the doors were configured.

Ford dropped the mini doors on the regular cabs, as well as the smaller main door that was on reg cab and supercrews for cost reasons, as well as simplicity coming down the assembly line.

For 2009 Ford also stretched the supercrew cab by 6" to accommodate the longer main door up front.

Before ford had 5 different doors that they used depending on which cab, now they have 3 doors, much cheaper to mass produce 3 doors instead of trying to provide and order 5 doors.
