Is it normal to have a drip on the ground after an oil change?

I took my truck to the dealer on Thursday night to have the oil changed and today, 3 days later, I noticed a drip on the driveway. I crawled underneath it to look and the area around the filter was dry, but directly below the filter had some oil on it. I didn't see enough anywhere to drip....so I'm thinking it was alittle bit of a sloppy oil change. Other then that...I don't know what it could be. I cleaned the whole area with diluted Simple Green (50/50) about 3 hours ago and it looks good...so far.

If it doesn't continue I would say you're all good.

Did you check the drain plugs? They possibly re-used the old gasket...

I assume its the oil change....there were no drips in the driveway before.

Ya that is normal there is a plastic shield over the rack and pinion that keeps that oil off it, if you don't wipe it down it will drip for a couple days

That makes me feel better. At least it was the Ford dealer that did the oil change. The oil filter is in a weird place....right about above alot of stuff!

I cleaned it yesterday....it sat for 9 hours in my driveway and no drip and everything is clean. Next time I take in for an oil change, I'm going to ask them to clean it real good....

Solve the mess issue the best way, change your own oil. Its much cheaper, more fun to work on your own vehicle ( granted your filter isn't torqued on hard as hell, hand tight is just fine ).
