Question about changing plugs ???
BTW, I read as many pages of the broke vs. non-broke thread below, as I had time for.
Anyway, my truck only has about 6K miles on it.... but I was wondering if there is a "safe" amount of tourque one could apply to these plugs, and then, if they came out, "great" ! I could put some new plugs in (whether it needed them or not) using some of that anti-seize plug stuff {I forget what it's called, but my friend / mechanic never does a plug job without it} and then, I could have my mechanic change my plugs every 50K, or whatever.
Of course if they didn't come out with "the safe amount" of torque.... Houston, we have a problem.
I'm just thinking that maybe I can avoid a problem down the road, by removing my plugs early "before they are baked in" and doing some cheap, easy, preventative maintenance.
Your thoughts ?

PS, BTW yes, I do have an 08' 5.4L

Do you have the black plug boots or the brown? If brown, you have the revised heads.
As far as changing them out now, do it if that makes you happy. I just don't think that way. I had mine changed at 65,500, the TSB was followed and all came out fine. If one had broken, we now know how to get them out. I went back with the Motorcraft and plan on going 80,000 to 90,000 on them. I also use a gas with a good detergent such as Shell , Texaco and Chevron. I believe that they usually come out if the TSB is followed explictly and there is no "iI'll do this because it's better or shouldn't make a difference".

Like Bluejay said if it makes you feel better then do it. I believe the fix came about late '07 which would have shown up on the '08 models. Check your build date, if it's the later part of the run you should be ok. It's possible some of the earlier built '08's could have gotten left over '07 engines that still had the old head design.
Thanks guys.....
Hey Bluejay, I went out and checked, and my spark plug boots are "brown".... Thank God.
Tbird, no kidding, huh.... Hmmmm.
Peace,
