Programming Keyless Entry Remotes

Hey guys,

I tried to follow the manuals instructions to program the remotes.

Unlock all doors
cycle key from 1 to 3 8 times

But when I do this it does not cycle the locks. A chime beeps though....

Any thoughts? I have a remote that someone gave me but I think the battery is dead so I will replace that and try again...

i think you have it right.get in the truck, lock then unlock the doors and cycle the key on and off do not start engine either 8 or 9 times.also do it not too fast but not too slow and really it should take.when the locks cycle press a button on 1 remote and then press one button on the other.just try it a few times.if it doesnt do it then turn the key off open and close the door and try again.

Thanks man.

Im not sure if it was the lock and then unlock part that did it (the manual just says to unlock) or taking slower clicks from off to on but it worked and I now have keyless entry for the first time in about 4 years.

Where did you get new remotes? Mine has snapped the piece that clips to your key chain and I have to cary it around by its self....kind of a pain. Thanks.

Ebay is your friend. I got mine when I first got my truck for about 20 bucks. Worked perfectly. I soon after replaced it with a remote start system, but it worked great for the time being.

Thanks. Found one for 16.95 + 8 shipping. Shipping seems high, but it is a new unit. Can you program a used one?

Just an FYI you can use other most Ford remotes. I just recently purchased an 07 150 and the dealer didn't have any remotes for the truck. I had an extra remote from my 03 Mustang. I was able to program the remote from the Mustang to work with my F150. The remote has an extra button but not a big deal.

Was simple enough to program. Got in the truck doors unlocked. Key in ignition, turned ignition key to on (don't start the vehicle) and back to off taking about 1 sec for each on to off turn of the key, this has to be done 8 times in under 10 secs, but don't go too fast. Once you reach the 8 time, all the doors will lock and then unlock, press any button on the remote doors will lock and then unlock confirmed the remote was programed. You can program up to 4 remote.

I had to keep turning the key on and off real quick like revving the throttle on a motorcycle.
